Does any one have any advice/suggestions for portable air conditioning units. I believe that they can be noisy and that they also need to be vented. Roof air con unit isn't an option at the moment due to cost.

Seamus. :-)

I was in a Barbers shop in Tipperary this morning and there was a portable Air Conditioner running, It was very silent and had a flexable pipe venting it through the window, the place was lovely and cool and the Barber told me he bought it at Aldi a couple years ago for 250euro

I will have to watch out for aldi, having said that the units on cool my camper seem like a good compramise considering the cost of a roof unit installation. Has any one actually used one.

This is also something that we are v interested in finding out about.
We ended up not going for a cool my camper option as we wanted to see how we faired!
So far we are climatising by moving south in France gradually!!!
We have a fan that is on all the time! & the roof windows open!
Bryan did notice a tent using it when we stayed at a campsite outside Paris but they had left before we had a chance to speak to them ... Keep us posted, we might invest in one for next year ....

External windscreen blinds make a hell of a difference, they really block the heat.
