Cloughglass, Co. Donegal

When the kids were just kids we used to rent an extremely basic, run down cottage on the beach in Cloughglass, just north of Burtonport and Dungloe - an absolutely beautiful spot! A few years ago we discovered the cottage again on a holiday home rental site and went back for a few years on the trot, have to add the cottage had been completely renovated. There is a huge car park at the beach and I have just googled the roads and we reckon we may be able to get the Gretchibald down them (they are very narrow and windy). Was just wondering if anyone had ever parked here overnight, there doesn't appear to be any signs indicating that overnight parking is not allowed, but would hate to get there and settled only to have to face those roads again!

looks like a great spot. We were touring for 6 days in that area last week. We started out in Letterykenny headed north & found this great wee SPOT roads out from Carrickart were grand most of the way.

Could you add a map link to the spot you sent the pic of, I tried to find it without much success.

Hopefully this will take you to the car park and you can zoom out to check the road to Burtonport.

Hi Jayne

we'll definetly be using the Cloughglass spot. We also stayed at HERE at Donegal Airport, it's busy with walkers & joggers until dusk but really quiet after dusk. Brilliant beach walks from here too.

Do you add your own POIs to the Craic POIs on your satnav? If so how do you retain the manually added POIs if the Craic release an updated verion & you remove the old version before you install the new. [hope that makes sense] :'(

On my sat nav I add them as a favourite poi and then after trying it a couple of times check against the map and if not already there send it to ally or post on here, there hasn't been many so far that are not already listed.

Same here.
I don't know why you want to add your own poi's to an existing file.

I agree Mark, was just curious to see how other folk manage their POIs.

My only issue with totally relying on this set-up is, if a new spot is discussed here & not automatically added to the list [no offence intended to Ally or anyone else involved in the background]
Or you want to use the newly discussed POI before the next update.

Hi John,
When I say I've 'saved' a point it's usually written in the back of my map book lol, not very techy and the sat nav we have in the Gretchibald is a foreign jobby that's all singing all dancing with TV, usb, touch screen etc, but have no idea how to put in our own poi's yet - will get my son to suss it out sometime. Have been many a time to that car park by Donegal airport, for a good walk along the beach and sand dunes (in the wind) but have never taken the motorhome yet - will hopefully fit it in with Cloughglass in the next few weeks. Have a great video somewhere of a plane coming in to that runway sideways due to the gale force wind that was blowing lol.

As far as I am aware the poi file is being updated constantly.

Every update has new locations added, new info added to existing spots and unsuitable locations removed. The details are no longer being posted on the forum. Just the fact that there is a new file available.

I could be wrong but I am sure Tom or Ally will correct me if they need to.

Hi Tom does this mean the brief mention of the 3 POIs in this thread will be added without myself or Jayne informing anyone. Will you Tom or Ally automatically pick the new ones out of the various conversations?

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here 🇧🇭
