UK stopovers for camper trip to France via UK

I am heading to France via the UK. I am travelling Dublin to Holyhead and on to Dover. I am travelling with children and will be breaking the journey with an overnight, planning to sail from Dover to Calais around 12 midday. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could break my journey without going too far out of the way?

There is a caravan club site at Chester close to the elsmere port shopping complex, but depending on your sailing time from Ireland you might be better getting closer to Dover for the overnight stop. On the other hand if you get into France early enough why not take an overnight in some of the sites around Calais before heading on.

stop over or the dover ferry

Hi. This maybe a bit of a long run but the park and ride on the old dover road at canterbury is ideal os a overnight stop, you have to be there before 8-30pm. as the barrier is closed, £2-50 for the night, you get out at any time, empty water and waste, fill up with fresh water, also your bus fare into town, this is on the A2 road, this is only 20 mins from the ferry and the same road takes you into the ferry terminal.
