After the incident at Loughree East Athlone craic meet, were a craic member needed urgent medical treatment, they seemed to be the only one's with an EHIC (used to be E111) - European Health Insurance Card

Ourselves were guilty of not ever having one. I have now applied.

So if you are in Northern Ireland apply HERE

Not sure what way it works if you live in the South?

Always in my wallet as I wouldn't take the passport unless heading to mainland europe. But it only covers emergency work as you would receive at home, you still need travel insurance if going "abroad" as they say.

Hows the weather in France, Angela was telling me it was absolute pants in Spain yesterday with rain in biblical proportions, she started looking for people called Noah in the neighbourhood  it was so bad (put 5 inches of water into the pool!)

Got my mother one last month when she was heading abroad. Never entered my head to get one myself. Ordered online tonight and will receive it in around ten days.
Well done Motorhome craic for keeping our medical requirements up to date.

YES THE EHIC IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE. WE USED IT IN FRANCE YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS E111.
OUR SON LOST A TOOTH IN THE SWIMMING POOL AND HE WAS TREATED RIGHT AWAY WHEN WE USED IT.
THE TRAVEL INSURANCE WERE HAPPY TO AS IT SAVED THEM SOME MONEY.

If you do have a mishap Just make sure that it Is a public hospital you are taken to, I have heard that in some countries if they know that you are a tourist they will bring you to a private hospital instead and charge you enormous fees.

Not sure if it is 100% true or not but worth checking out all the same.
