Hi you think the motorhome owners are getting riped off at the camp sights you would be right what 20 euro in Portsallon for a tent no ehu and no tanks to empty, greedy or what.
4 euro in France you get a swimingpool and free showers.

Average price for tent in cork plus 2 audults & 2 childern is €30-35 which makes a weeks camping plus all accessories etc etc expensive,

Camping was perceived to be a cheap way of bringing the kids on hols... Not any more im afraid.

in castle archdale one price does all, tent, caravan, motorhome.

yet again it shows the greed of campsite owners and the ignorance of each units need.

caravans have the most needs but are not reflected in price, they usually are the most energy users on ehu and again one price for all.

Cant figure that price...

We typically pay no more than €26-28 per night for our large Outwell hartford XL family tent at our usual stomping grounds in Cork, Kerry & Wexford. We also have 2 adults & 2 kids. Add 3-4 euro per night if its cold weather and Mrs wants the EHU for the elec heater.

Not a hope we'd pay €30-35 (Or have the rates gone up AGAIN?)

Where were you charged these rates?

We were on a French site south of La Rochelle last June in the Motorhome paying 16 euro per night with the ACSI discount card and next us were a young couple and child from Bristol in a tent paying 27 euro per night without the discount. So it is not only Ireland!

Eirebus you are a man after my own heart. When they realise what they are loosing they will eventually make facilities available for us motorhomers at a reasonable price.

Don't hold your breath, they have the misguided perception that if they oppose all the opposition, ie Aires then we will all go into their sites, they just do not get it, if we are stopping over for a few hours then a stopover is what we need if we are staying a while then we use sites, if they oppose Aires then I for one will oppose them and avoid them like the plague. Rant over, feel better now!

Willie, I agree with you, but it is no use avoiding them like the plague if they don't know if you are avoiding them. I think it is high time for motorhome owners, clubs, Dealers etc get together and make noise, be it lobbying politicians, driving a convoy of motorhomes through these motorhome unfriendly Towns or some other type of mass protest. We are going to get nothing if we don't unite.

All credit to the site owners who provide facilities for people to come for the weekend or longer ,but us motorhomers do not have that kind of requirements and are not prepared to pay the fees currently being charged.

Give us a parking area costing £5 per night with nothing more than water and toilet disposal facilities and you will see the difference.

Did anyone observe Hagans weekend at Ballycastle,i rest my case.

Maybe a few councillors need a fact finding mission to France. They would get their eyes opened when they witness how campsites and aires work side by side.
