same happened to us in Bundoran. We had parked within the bay & paid for the parking ticket. Then we went & spent £50 in the Holyrood on dinner. When we came back there was a £40 parking fine, when we wrote to Donegal council to explain why they told us we weren't within the parking bay as the overhang of the motorhome was on a grass band, so therefore we were an obstruction. With having to wait for a reply from the council the time period expired so our fine went up to £80. Shows how Bundoran really appreciates the tourists... Not,,

Why anyone would choose to go to Bundoran in the first place amazes me. It has always existed to screw every last penny out of the tourist trade with minimum politeness, quality and facilities. I worked there as summer child labour in the early 80s and saw how tourists were exploited with minimum quality and cheapest food products at extortionate prices and regularly watched the cook spit into the food returned by complainees before being sent back out to them. Prices were increased after pub closing times and management overcharged drunks citing 'we only have a short season to make as much as possible '. Tourists were shafted on exchange rates etc but at least then parking was free. Bundoran businesses have been too shortsighted for years, the aire closed a couple of years ago. The beach isn't that good either, overshadowed by beauties like neighbouring Rosnowlagh, where I spent yesterday parked on the beach free from charges and fines.
If they don't want Motorhomers, then we shouldn't go.

I have to agree with most of the comments reference parking in Bundoran. They don't deserve to have money spent in the town by motorhomers. As much as I like the place I avoided it for years until the Aire opened but with its closure I avoid it again. Having had a discussion with the local "Jobs Worth" traffic warden, while parked in the Aire, about the way they treat motorhomers it became quite obvious that he personally and apparently the council do not have any time for us. We should boycot town and E-mail council our frustration at how we are treated by them.
