They are also used by google for their traffic system on the maps.

Don't forget about the teleporters/body scanners being trialled in letterkenny Main Street !

These are not used by google for any purpose.

They are used only by the police for the sole purpose of spying. Their main objective is the surveillance of the 98% of innocent road users that actually do have tax, insurance and mot and do things by the book.

They use computers to trawl their (your) movements for "patterns of suspicious behaviour". This can be something as binign as traveling the same journey at irregular intervals or traveling in front or behind a car that is deemed to be suspicious as they are infatuated with gangs traveling in convoy.

If you are unlucky enough to be flagged as suspicious then you will stopped and harassed.

A large number of establishments and council controlled properties have CCTV installed in toilets, mostly in emergency lighting on the ceiling. The small cameras within them are tiny but have a large wide angle that covers the entire room.

I am dead against ANPR until someone clarifies what they record, why they record it and why we were not consulted in the millions spent on installing them.

But to suggest CCTV in toilets I find totally unbelievable. What is your proof on this? If I went into a toilet and found myself being recorded I would be quite within my rights to smash the camera, or ask for a fee :)

I have worked on many bar, and night club fit outs and can assure you that although not all, quite a few have been fitted with cameras in the emergency lighting.

I ran a bar, we had CCTV all over the place, except the toilets! Too many privacy laws to allow recording in toilets, the criminal reprecussions of recording someone in a toilet would be very high. Why would you want too?

My only proof is my word, and the fact that the fullness of history will prove me right. I promise you it is not nonsense.

As I said, not all and every establishment does this but some do. And any that do could care less about data protection or privacy laws.

Taking notes is actually exactly what cctv is doing to people but they have been conditioned not to accepted it in that way, but instead to accept it as a normal form of their own personal protection.

've seen the doom shaped cameras in hotel toilets but not over the actual cubicles. I guess they put them in to keep an eye of folk who can't behave when they have a few too many to drink.
