Hi to all .........just back from Donaghys and a service and habitation check. OUCH.... :'( . While there got talking to fellow campers ....as you do. He informed me that vans travelling in France have been stopped and those that don't have a spare wheel are being fined....or in one case .....seized. News to me but as it's the time of year for heading to France and I/ we don't have a spare .......any info would be appreciated. Looking at a lot of vans in donaghys and they don't have spare wheels.

So.....fact or myth......

Some motorhomes manufactured in France don`t have spare wheels, or is this only for the UK market?

some cars dont even have spare wheels now, just the infaltion kits. I dont know how legal this is, if a vehicle is type approved for a certain country then the road worthiness rules apply in the country of registration, because they could if they want to enforce that sort of law then fine every vehicle coming from the uk as not having a steering wheel on the correct side of the vehicle.

Personally I think its another of the urban myths of travel, I have been numerouse times through europe by car and motorhome and not once have I been stopped and asked about spare wheels, hi viz jackets, breathalisers etc etc.

Can only agree with John this cannot be a legal requirement and must be one of the crazy rumours like gas attacks.

My thoughts were the same...........ya hear it ........but never from someone who has actually been stopped and fined or even cautioned by police. Like many of you I have travelled all over eorope and never been stopped by any police force for any reason, other than a traffic survey, and that lasted ten seconds when they realised we were tourists and waved us on.

So........another myth till we can confirm otherwise O-) O-)
