Cassette fluid.....tablet !!?

Hi to all............I've run out of cassette fluid and can't source any near me, ( I can but it is a crazy price.) I think I've heard some of you guys using an alternative, so I'd be happy to hear of it till I get a new fluid.

Liquid Tablet?? So thats where I went wrong, I didn't have great sucess with the solid ones. By the way Aldi had Toilet fluid last Sunday. I don't know how good it is, It is 8.99euro I think for 2lt.

And remember its the bio ones not the non bio as well, not sure about the two in one types as I don't know if they are bio or not.

Flipping eck I must be slipping............the liquid is in aldi..........searched everywhere and was asked 11e for the privilege of a litre. So aldi tomorrow.........some chocolate as well :D

We use the bio tablets and have no trouble with them, the hubby finds the cassette empties with ease and I don't notice any smell.

lidl do toilet tablets, i think it says w5 on the box.
they are excellent, and very cheap

After this topic came up, we decided to try them, and we tried the solid tablets from LIDL, crumble them up, and the toilet has never been cleaner or fresher. When they run out, we'll try the liquid ones, but a box of the Bio tablets for £1.67, you cant go wrong......

Found the same Geoff, our old Motorhome had a white cassette and when we bought it I would not look into it. :sick: After one or two weeks of the Bio Tablets it was as white as snow :) (well nearly)

Hi Guys, a little off subject but related, does anyone use standard toilet roll in the van, just paid £3.50 for 4 Thetford rolls, personally think this is a ripoff, I can buy 24 in Asda for £8.00.

the cheap value brands from all the supermarkets are the ones we use, the likes of Andrex or Cushell etc are too thick and wont breakdown in the tank.

Wev'e just come back from carlingford and used the asda bio tabs for the first time, no smell at all in fact it was better than the blue stuff. But what I did was melted two tabs in warm water the night before going away droped them into the tank also one in the top tank with a little Zoflora springtime concentrate work wonders,BIG PS don't buy lidls recycled loo roll its like cleaning your bum with cardboard >_<

For washing clothes, just make sure you get the bio (not the non bio) ;-)

We normally get them in aldi/ lidl and no worries, :up:

I eventually got them in Hagans but the were hidden. They seem to be keener to push another product. I see they have them now in a more prominent place.

Tip we got when we bought first MH. Use the blue (Bloo)tablets you drop into an ordinary toilet cistern, fill a 2 litre plastic milk carton (one with handle) with water , I snip up the tablet to dissolve easier in water and store beside the opening for cassette (or garage) pour in a 1/3 or so before inserting cassette back in place. Mark the side of bottle to say Toilet Only. We use the cheaper toilet paper, and do not put baby wipes into cassette, they don't dissolve.
Never tried laundry tablets.

The bloo tabs for house toilet cisterns are not the same thing as the blue chemical for cassette toilets.
They have no ability to breakdown solids and will not work in the same manner.

Second weekend to use this stuff and I think it's very good.
Smells of marzipan, much better smell than some of the more expensive ones I have used.

Interesting to see this topic again,as we stopped using the Bloo tablets and use the 2 litre stuff that is on sale occasionally in Lidl/Aldi comes in blue or green....one better than other.. but I don’t change the cassette....

I did buy one of those little lightweight folding trolleys in that store (?)...the one beside Tesco in Banbridge Outlet for carrying the cassette to chemical toilet. I love buying gadgets....more weight in the Garage!

Does anybody else have the sog system in their toilet. I find it very good, with no chemicals required, we don’t get the chemical smell in motorhome that seems to happen with chemicals after a day or so. Saves a few quid too

We have the Theford type sog system installed and it is part of the toilet and vents underneath the van after going through a carbon filter.

Ok here is my take on a SOG,
1 IF you are in a position to empty the loo every day its perfect and no chemicals are needed.
2 Day two you will get the pong rising when you open flap, this will disappear say after 30 seconds with the fan going.
3 Day 3 it tightens the Sog to keep the aroma away.

The above also depends on what one person or another will pass , also HEAT, if you get into hot summer weather the SOG will work but with 2 in the van you really want to empty daily.

Hot weather we tend to use some cheap washing liquid, you can get 3 liters for under €4 in spain.
We also keep blue in van for when we know we will be wilding and using BOTH cassettes. A sog is good but when your emptying NO1 cassette after 5/6 Days a sog aint much use :D .... This I promise :D

In France in June it was quite hot, and yes, on day 3 there was a bit of a whiff when you first opened the blade for about 10-15 seconds. I didn’t go more than 3 days without emptying, and it was ok. Not marvelous but ok. I just really dislike the chemical smell which seems to be nearly constant in van without sog, so for me it’s a nobrainer.
