Cheaper fuel?

There has been a dramatic overnight development. EU competition authorities have ‘raided’ the offices of some Oil companies and the office of at least one company that supplies Oil pricing information to the market on suspicion of market manipulation.

This EU investigation offers the hope that we will finally be able to answer the question – have we been systematically ‘ripped off’ over the years or not? At the moment, it’s an investigation and we don’t know what the authorities will find. However, the fact that they have seen fit to launch the investigation shows the urgent need for greater transparency in how the Oil market works. If wrong doing is uncovered, it promises to be as big a scandal as the Banks fixing the LIBOR interest rate.

You can see some of the coverage of this on our blog at http://fairfueluk.com/quentins_blog.php?entry_id=1368594121 Most of our efforts over recent weeks have been focussed on that other big issue relating to how much we pay at the pumps – Fuel Duty. We’ll have more to say on our next moves on that in the next few days – but for now, we thought we should share the breaking news of the EU investigation with you.

You can be sure that we’ll keep you posted as the dramatic news of the EU investigation develops...........

Dont hold your breath, they looked into fuel pricing a short time ago in relation to the price of crude to the pump price and found nothing wrong, even though it goes up immediately but takes weeks to come down!

Shell lost billions when the well blew up off the U.S. coast and the following year posted a profit of billions I think that explains all . :bandit:
There was a campaign online to boycott 2 of the main oil companys forceing them to drop their prices to get sales, then the others would follow suit to get back their sales and so on, but it never took off ,so its our own fault 🇧🇭

Yes there were several, one of which was the campaign to Boycott Shell. I took part in that, and I still avoid Shell for that reason only. 12 months later, no impact at all.

I'm spending nearly 3 grand on petrol every year JUST to commute to and from work in my car/bike and I'm sick of it. (This doesn't include weekend use of the car or bike...)
I can't do "car sharing" as my hours are irregular and run long quite a lot, so I'm on my own.

EVERYONE needs to subscribe to a boycott for it to work and it needs to be HIGHLY publicised.

I use an independent garage to get my petrol at the moment. They draw their fuel directly from whitegate oil refinery in Cork (NOT owned by Shell).

We really do need to be more like the French

Don't like it? Boycott it - block it - burn it
