Interested in this to, I have a full bike licence but a 100 or 125 cc Scooter would be plenty for darting about. There seems to be various ways of carrying them and I showed one to a mate who is a welder, he is going to make one for me for the price of the steel. He reckons nothing to it, although it was one of the more basic ones.

Lovely bike and rack for sale in the for sale section. Very tempted but need to sort a MH first!

I don't know which racks you are talking about but if it is an easylifter watch the weight over the back axle.If your motorhome has a very long overhang,be careful.

I have a full bike licence too. I was looking at a 125 honda scooter last week which I thought would be sufficient to carry 2 people yet light enough to rack. The dealer informed me that the compulsory test is in from Feb. 2012 excluding car drivers from using a bike of any size on the road without the training.
This costs about £250 ... a lot extra for a toy which might get little use if you have no bike licence

Well it's a scooter for me and if I look like a muppet at least I am bringing a smile to someones face

My last Bike was a Blade, never liked cruisers, they were always sore on the back and arms and cornered like a cruise ship. Each to their own

I think the new test is the CBT to bring us into line with the rest of the UK not the full bike test, as the max size on a full license is a 50cc with a passenger on board I did the test anyhow sold the 50cc, and now have a 125cc scooter, considering a 600cc bike but weight needs to be under 200 kilo, max for the easy lifter.

I have a bad back and they are to straight believe it or not, plus I dislike anything that resembles a chopper/cruiser unless it is in America, big straight roads which is what they were built for.

Harleys now there's a joke, shake themselves to bits, handle exceptionally bad and rust like a British made car, never understood the appeal except of course that some seem to think it makes them a free and easy rider and they feel like they are riding down Route 66 on their way to Portrush. Sad really. (I am about to get killed by 400 hairy bikers)

I know a scooter isn't a bike, but it's easy on the juice 140mpg, light for transporting on the MH and in this day and age, quite cool looking

No matter how well looked after a Mini is, it will rust. To many area's for catching water and dirt. That's if you use it as a car and not a show piece.

You are right all cars rust, I don't see many Datsun 120y's at classic car shows. But it was only when the British car industry came under threat from the Japanese imports did they do something about it, were they not told to promote rust in the late 60's early 70's? to boost car sales.

Toyota were really good when they first came over, my Father bought a Cressida brand new in 79, three years later it needed welded and resprayed

- but at least it had a radio unlike it's British rivals

This is getting diverse

I had a couple of minis and they do rust. As for British cars I still have a 1939 Talbot 10, British engineering and style at its best. Its been off the road for a long time but still starts and looks great.
I cant see the Jap scrap lasting that long!
I do agree that scooters are the height of muppetry but still a practical option for racking. My last bike was a Honda 400/4 supersport. Imported after the UK 400/4 was deleted. A cracking low slung machine. Only sold it because the nice man in the Royal Vic reckoned I had used up most of my 9 lives
