Visiting Again

 ·

Thanks for the welcome

Although I am lacking the Irish blood we both love Ireland (Wife mother was from Kilkenny) and have been a holiday visitor for going on 25 years usually finding some time most years ranging from a couple day to a couple of weeks,
We have covered most ways of "doing" it from a touring caravan fixed site for two weeks, fixed Caravan, Touring using B&Bs and even the odd hotel holiday but not yet camper/motorhome

Well finally given up the 9 to 5 or maybe they were happy to get rid of me after 40years plus
So two years ago bought a VW T5 and toured a very wet Scotland and last year bought a Ducato Van conversion, a 2006 Tribute and have now booked the ferry to spend 4 weeks starting June 6 touring your wonderful country.

So folks any helpful advise re good sites, wild camping would be greatly appreciated.
Our thoughts at present are to book onto a site within a few miles of the ferry to Rosslare for when we get there and basically then go with the flow

Also is it possible for a UK resident to get breakdown cover as it is unbelievable expensive to book it
in England but I suppose if I take out local cover they wont get me back to UK

David and Maureen

Hi David and Maureen, I know how you feel about breakdown cover, we went to France last year with out it and didn't need it but it was allways a concern. this year I have it and it is a weight of my mind. Welcome to the craic and enjoy your holiday.

Welcome David and Maureen

You could look at the csma website as they offer Britannia breakdown cover for £75 which covers the whole of Europe

June Visit

Hi again

Many thanks for the responses although I am not really surprised,
the reason we keep coming back to Ireland is not for the country great although it is, it is because no matter where we have been we have always been made welcome by the people we meet so different to everywhere else we have visited.
