Transit "pop top"

Back in 1990, my folks bought their first camper. A tired old 1978 Ford transit 'pop top'. It was a bit rough, so they did a refurb on it. Replacing the 'pop top' fabric, the interior upholstery and gave it a full respray (amongst other things).
I came across a few old photo's of it recently. These photo's were taken while my folks were sanding and prepping for paint, so they're not the most glamorous of images, but I thought it's be a hoot to share them anyway.

There are some photo's of it AFTER it was painted, and one or two of it taken in the south of France. I'll share them too as soon as I find them.

I did a registration check for SZR734 on motorcheck.ie and they had some info on the van, so I wonder if it is still registered, taxed and in use?? It'd be cool to see how it looks now if it was still on the road?

The silver vw golf on the left was my first car. :'( I'd love to have her back.

Aye, things were a lot simpler back then. No solar panels, inverters, LCD tv's, Compact Satellite dishes, DVD players, generators, Laptops, ipads, WIFI, and all those other fantastic gadgets that are available now.

Although i must confess that I didn't spend much time with my folks in this camper, I recall spending a couple of nice evenings visiting with them.

(I've been digging through a lot of old photos recently, reminiscing about 'the good old days'. That must surely be a sign I'm getting old... :D :D)

Yeah Eirebus I've got a PRG 26 ft trailer to tow the 2CV or Mehari and all the other bits and pieces and I've got a large garage in the Motorhome too. The more space you have the more gadgets you take with you.

There are some changes to Motorhomes since that one was built ,probably gave less trouble as well, but there again there was nothing in there to give trouble.
