Yes you can park at the rugby club but make yourself known to the barman. We have used it on a number of occasions.

Thanks!! Brilliant news...read on this site that it had been closed! Used it before parking near the yacht club on middle pier, so what has changed if you can still park there?

The changes have not taken place yet Tom.
It would appear it is planned to start charging for parking on the pier and exclude motorhomes.

Enjoy your trip, we will be a few weeks behind you Unfortunately.

Thanks Mark! Brilliant! It's Therese here, when do you head? We will do aires all the way down until we get into Spain..first time motorhoming in Spain so feel the need to be cautious and use sites there. Usually make our first stop in Ste Mere Eglise about half an hour south of Cherbourg. It's a great pace to stop for diesel, etc although we usually make it our last stopover on way back to boat. Lots of vans stopover there in main square in front of ww2 museum.

Not going until June i am sorry to say. I was over in March for two weeks but not with the motorhome. I got roped into doing some work in my parents garden.
We have stayed in St Mare Eglise but now use the aire in Bricquebec on the way to Cherbourg. It is great and has free unmetered electric. Well worth looking at.

Therese here, we were able to park up in Howth no problem last night so thanks for clarifying that. We had a good catch up with "Barney", oyster festival weekend was on, funfair, fireworks etc!!

On ferry to Cherbourg now and looking forward to an interesting two month tour of France and Spain!

Good French aires:

Sainte Mere Eglise, 30 mls south of Cherbourg on N13, diesel (1.29 ltr), motorhome station at petrol station; has SuprU and a ww2 museum, parking in village square at museum; shops yds away

Nozay is a very good aire, it's 194ms from Cherbourg on N137 south of Rennes, by a lake and local amenity park area, motorhome station in aire, (not brillant) couple of hundred yards from a good Super U which has diesel (1.32 ltr), wines to get you started and a motorhome station at the petrol station. CC entry ths year (5euros), whether you get electic point or not.

Mortagne-sur-Gironde 400 mls from Cherbourg off A10 (200 mls from Nozay) situated on Gironde estuary, lots of Motorhomes alongside the marina, very popular, need to get there early, 7.50 euros, whether you get electic or not, free access to Port wifi. Motorhome station at opp side of marina. Bread, frites, restaurants, etc at marina.

Buzet-sur-Baise, 535 mls from Cherbourg off A82 south of Bordeaux (135mls from Mortagne-sur-Gironde). Free aire at canal marina, water and toilets, electric only for boats, wifi from marina 2 euros. Next to quaint village with spar etc.

Hope this is useful to someone! Steadily heading south towards Spain!

Good info to have as that's a route we travel a lot, although we normally go on the N10 to San Sebastián then onto Pamplona as its cheaper ie no tolls compared to Toulouse / Perpignan

When we were on the N10 recently they were installing toll booths. Not sure when they will be in use but it may be worth googling if you're thinking of using it.
Also, I wouldn't be worried about using most of the aires in Spain. The one in San Sebastian is great, and always busy so you should feel safe there.
Enjoy your trip!

I remember seeing the toll area being constructed when we went out at Easter, i forgot about that 🇧🇭 but i still prefer that way to going via Milau or Toulouse as its a flatter route when pulling a trailer.

30E pn sounds very expensive for an aire. Would you be better off getting an ACSI Campsite for 16E pn at this time of year? I don't know if they are in that area.

Hi Pat,
The Aires is in the middle of the city, very central, I don't think there's a campsite in city

I,m sure the aire in San Sebastian is about 3 euro per day in winter and 6 euro in summer. We used it just last month. This is the one by the University, near shops and bars and GPS N 43deg 18.481' W2deg 0.867'.
There may well be another one that I don't know of.
