Radio one free big Music festival 24-27 May BH Derry (ICCC Rally)

You can apply for tickets for this music festival on tuesday morning from 9.00am, 37500 free tickets are been given away with a £5 admin fee charged. The festival is taking place over the 3 days along with various other activities to celebrate the city of culture. ICCC Northern branch will be holding a rally this weekend to coincide with these events and we will be located close to the city centre. My Son tried for ages to get two tickets for one day and keep getting messed about his lecturer in uni said he son from England only wanted two tickets but got 12 tickets in total for every day apparently it wasn't down on a first come first served basis but the big lad ain't impressed.

SEE tickets are usually quite fair they have been doing Glastonbury Festivals for years.

I would think it would be the fact that percentages were allocated to different area's, I would surmise that there would not be a load of English wanting to travel for it.

Tickets were to be allocated as following 45% to local area 45% to NI residents and 10% to UK and Ireland not sure what to make of that but not many tickets about.

Total tickets for the weekend = 37500 (18675 pairs) over 3 days.
45% of tickets for city = 2800 pairs per day , 45% for rest of NI = 2800 pairs per day
10% for outside NI = 625 pairs per day
So this halves the number of people who would be successful in a purchase O-)

there seems to be quite a debate about allocation and purchase of tickets.
the bbc says it is to stop ticket touts etc but they cannot stop the touts at any other concert/sports/broadcast event so little chance of this working.

Only one way to stop touts and that is how Glastonbury Festivals do it. You register with your name and address and photo, this does not guarantee a ticket. You then get a chance on ticket day to buy a ticket, if you are lucky enough to get one your ticket arrives with your name address and photo on it. Photo doesn't match your face you don't get in.
