240volt but been me I never go down the path of 12volt for any device as they,re twice the price. I fitted a 600watt inverter into the electrical circuit with a 3pole rotor switch which means all the plugs are live with the exception of the appliances I cant use ie cooker, fridge. Works for me for the last 10 yrs, I don't even carry an electric lead, never uses sites and does the Continent 5 weeks every year.

hi pogonogo

I'd like to have a similar setup on my van. What do you use to keep your batteries topped up to continuously run a 600watt inverter? also how many batteries do you run?

Hi Nipper I have a 100watt solar fitted with 2 110amp batteries. The invertor is 600watt however I never need that amount of power just enough to charge the laptop, phone and run the tv., sometimes the electric lights 2 low energy bulbs. If the other half uses the iron or the hair dryer I start the engine so that keeps the power supplied for the duration.(alternator 120amp x 14volt =1600 watt) In the winter when more power may be required I fit a 3rd 110amp batt.........

Hi Pogonogo

Is the third backup leisure battery connected to the set-up or just linked on when needed?

I have it wired permanently but in the summer I lift the battery out and isolate the terminals ready for the next time its required. I could leave it in but not much point carrying the weight 2 is enough in the summer.

Really interesting stuff. I've been thinking of solar for a while now but was told I needed two new batteries to go with it, this was a pain as my current 110amp leisure is only 6 months old. This setup would mean it could still be used as a backup on certain trips.

Hi Nipper . if you already have 2x 110ah batteries all you will need is a solar panel to keep them charged up.

that's the pain, I've only on 110ah battery & because it's over 6 months old I'd have to buy 2 new 110s.

My question to pogonogo, was how his 3rd leisure battery works in his setup. He said it's only used as a backup, which is what I'd have to do to utilise the current 110 I own.

:-/ :-/ All a bit confusing :-/ :-/

Have the battery tested and if its holding the charge I wouldnt worry about adding a second one (go ahead and do it)as long as its the same make/model. Just make sure that they have the same charge in them when connecting them as one with a higher charge will supply power to the one with a lower charge creating a large spark. Remember that a lot of places will have had the battieries in stock for sometime and you may be buying one the same age as the one in the van.

Yea John I know what you mean now. I thought you had 2 x110ah already fitted as you will need them if your going to run an inverter and as you say use your battery in use at the minute for the third backup . PM me if you require batteries.

Have heard Walker have stopped making these? Can anyone confirm if they can still be bought in the South? as I know someone looking for one.

Excellent TV's with great tuners, if I had a pound everytime someone said to me "how have you got a picture!" be a shame if they have stopped producing them.

Yea Walker have definitely stopped making these TVs as I have made enquiries to Walkers about bringing some into stock , but was told they are not available and will be no longer available when their stock runs out. I was talking to a person called Steve. approx 6 months ago.

Got a really great Teinuro 19inch LED with DVD 12v/240 from Amazon.co.uk through Mr.LED. It's our second one (the other's permanently in the house). Great picture. 185 euros with shipping to Dublin. Worth checking online. (Just checked now, they only have the 16 inch one left). Has all the latest tech. Has Freeview built in. Does anyone know if that means I can use it up North or across the water. I know I have to get another saorview box for it. Cheers

Freeview works in the north and across the pond but you will need to retune it if you move from region to region to make sure you get all the channels.

The cello traveller tv I have has free view and soar view capability along with DVD and built in satellite decoder all in the one box.

My Walker died :-(

Screen is totally gone, it is away back to Walker for repair as it is under guarantee. Great TV I hope it can be fixed, but I wonder is this why they have stopped making them!

I know its a 12v tv but were you running it from an inverter by any chance?

I was running the bush one I got in argos off an inverter (modified sine wave) and it stopped after 9 months so brought it back and got a new one under warranty :-) :-) I forgot to mention to argos that I was running it from an inverter but then again they didn't ask either

Must get a proper inverter one of these days

Any advise would be appreciated and Thanks.

I have a cello traveler, you can only get them on internet but worth it as it has DVD, digital tv north and south and satellite built in.

Will all of those Cello's work in the south? John. There was a couple for sale on Adverts.ie but when I asked one was 240v and the rest were very far away. I would prefer to buy locally for warranty if I could.

For an aerial everyone seems to go for the status 530/540, I have one, always works great.

Sat dish might be hard to recommend at the minute if you go to France etc due to the changes. As far as I know, domes are now obselete outside of the UK and Ireland.

Has anyone been to France or further lately since the changes have been made?

According to Simon at TLS the domes are still ok in quite a bit if Europe. Mine didn't need any upgrading.
