That must be some feeling, being pulled back down a hill with no other option other than to hold on for dear life!

its a bit like that with my 1.9TD motorhome!

the engine is the one thing I really dont like about it 65MPH flat out cruise at 55MPH it really needs about another 75BHP (which is about double its current supply of horses)

In Scotland during the summer I have never driven as far in second gear (and some times first gear)in my life.

On rare occasions I need to tow my boat (weight with trailer about 3 tons) with a front wheel drive 1600cc family car and never had the least problem even up quite steep hills (like the one between Catlewellan and Clough)

We found the same problem with the last MH it was a 2000 Peugeot with a 1.9 turbo diesel which dragging around a coach built autocruise wasnt fun. We like Dorset, Devon etc so up hill and down dale was the norm and we could see the tempature hand rising quite a few times so we had to turn on the cab heater

We never had the over heat problem - but then it was Scotland not Devon only once did the temperature needle rise and that was on a particularly long very steep hill which was taken foot to the floor in first - we just about made it but by the time we were three quarters up I was getting concerned the revs were dropping fast and once they hit 2000 you can forget it as all the power (and I use the term loosely) vanishes
