Skippy,

I don't think you are allowed to carry your wife on the scooter rack.

You will have to let her in the van!!

Although your idea of getting her to use public transport sounds good. O-)

Let me know how it goes as I might fit one for my own talking sat nav.

You can only take a passenger if you have passed your motorcycle test but if you are old enough then you get the automatic rights to a moped/motorcycle licence under 50cc

Everyone must now pass a CBT test before riding any scooter or motorcycle, prior to this it was legal to carry a passenger on a 50cc moped if you had a full licence, and you did not require L plates either not sure if you do the CBT if you are allowed passenger now since the introduction of the CBT

Willie have just completed the CBT and it's joke really a rip off but you can't carry a passenger until you have completed the full test. I had it all on my old licence but somehow Coleraine deleted it off without me ever noticing it.

The deletion of groups on licences is a known problem, a Freind of mine lost both motorcycle and class 1 hgv which was his living and had to retake both tests even though he held them both for over 30 years.

Best photocopy the old one, only takes a sec and could save a fortune, they make mistakes and it is very difficult to get them to admit it, we had 4 tax books for our last motorhome before they got it right, they had it as a goods vehicle, I had to pay for a mot a year early because they would not issue the tax disc as goods mot is earlier, I bought the Bessacar new what a hassle. after 3 years got the overpaid tax and mot back I have to say but it was a long drawn out affair.

been checking my licence, according to the nidirect website 'p' entitles you to ride a moped up to 50cc. I have the letters E,F,K,L,N,P at the end of line 9 on my licence. So I think I can use a moped but without a passenger. Any thoughts?

I think you can carry a passenger depending on what year you passed your test. I know you automatically got a full licence for a moped upon passing your car test before a certain year, think it was 97.

You could go places with one of these. This would be more fun to have attached to the tow bar. They come with tie downs. Now which one am I talking about? :)

I'm assuming no passenger without the test.

Ah well, I've just bought the wife a new Kindle so that'll keep her busy until I get back.
