That very nearly happened to us one evening in Carrickfergus. The wife thought she turned off the cooker but in fact turned it down to the very low setting ,pulled down the glass lid and put the drying cloth on the lid to dry as the glass was warm. About 15mins later we had went for a walk when my mobile phone went and this voice shouting down the phone get back here quickly something has burst with a loud bang inside your Motorhome. I ran back "I was younger then and could run"only to find the glass lid has exploded and the drying cloth was burning on top of the cooker, smoke everywhere and everyone running to get their Motorhome out of the line of fire. Luckily enough for us I got the burning cloth thrown outside and the cooker switched off without any damage except for the glass lid on the cooker which had to be replaced and the small pieces of the glass lid were everywhere including the two front seats. I do believe there was still pieces of glass in the van when we sold it.
I can tell you all it was a very scary situation that we would not like to repeat or see anyone in the same situation.
Scary how easily done this can be? I now how glass gets everywhere ....broke a glass in our kitchen (house!) about a month ago and still finding bits, my favourite glass too Glad all was not too bad for you......

Last year my youngest threw a teatowel onto the gas ring whilst we were outside, first thing we knew was the scream of the smoke alarm...! Flippin" scary as the towel was well alight, burnt fingers for me and a sore arse for him....

Unbelievable - this could SOOOOOO easily happen to us at the bike races, some times we can hardly fully open the door we are that close to the next van..... there will be changes this year.

Yea Deirdre. Very lucky indeed the gentleman who rang me had put my number into his phone about half an hour before that as he wanted some work done. I have thought about it many times and we have talked about it just how lucky we were.
