Hi all. Just had a quote from Stuartsinsurances Dublin with Aviva, fully comp., recovery, windscreen cover and interior theft cover up to £4000.00 for.... wait for it...£270.00 !
Considering we last paid £800 odd on the mainland, I"m well chuffed. However is this too good to be true ? I await the paperwork with trepidation and a hopeful heart, with my run of bad news lately, I"m due some good luck ! Cheers all.

Hi Ally, that"s good. I"m just surprised that they"re so cheap, an RV being a bit well, "different". In the good ol" UK I"m so used to being ripped off for anything ins". related, my public liability is silly money and I"ve 5 other vehicles that are, in my opinion, far too dear to insure, all with no claims and, after all, how many vehicles can I drive at once...? A statement I made when I was charged £860.00 for my late father"s "01 Landcruiser worth about £6000.00 !! :o

Insurance is crazy, I tried to get my 19 year old daughter insured on a Fiesta £2400

Tried it with my name as the main policy holder but they have caught onto that and they price it on the youngest driver, the only way to reduce it was for me to insure the Fiesta for a year and then put her on the insurance, even then it's not cheap.

I sympathise Ally, I"m not looking forward to my youngest trying get cover in a couple of years. I wonder if it"s possible to use a southern broker for all our other vehicles ? Maybe I"ll ask the question.

Just had an email from Dolmen and they are £255 and it covers vehicles up to 7000cc!

I can also give you a horror story in relation to insuring a young driver but will keep it for when we meet as I dont want to post anything on the net in relation to it.

Thanks Controller, spoke with Dolmen also, but they haven"t got back to me yet (2 days later). I"m just so pleasantly shocked at the quote from Stuarts, I"ve got that "too good to be true" feeling !! I"m going to look at the "small print" particularly with regard to recovery, we"re 8.5 ton, and the windscreen cover, I"ve heard that A class screens can run to 1000"s ! Cheers, think I"ll take a celebratory Carlsberg this eve".

Yeah Paul I would take 2 Carlsbergs if I were you. Have been insured with Stuarts for years and have found them excellent. I've just had one claim in about 15 years and they were very quick. I highly recommend them.

I have today insured the motorhome with Dolmen for £235 including £20 discount for being a member of ICCC, less than half the cost of my current insurance :o . All done within 1 hour by email and 2 phone calls start to finish. Great friendly service  .

I was with Aviva through a local broker and they quoted me £581.00 for renewal :bandit: Something wrong somewhere? :(
