 ·
Posted: 04.03.2013  ·  #1
i went to Portrush on the 17th Feb on arriving at Ramorehead car park i found the whole car park area has been fenced of and with a height restriction in place when i got home i contacted Coleraine Distric Council, DOE, and DRD the reply was we will not be able to stop over in this area anymore i think this is a discgrace as i pay my road tax and insurance i now feel iam being punished for owning a motorhome i apeal to other motorhome owners to make a complant to coleraine council, DOE, and DRD
thanks for reading this

Have read the comments, but nobody has a plan. Personally I will not be going to Portrush again, so I would say to you craicers vote with your wallet and give Portrush a bye ball.
The last time we stayed in Portrush, between two homes we spent over £200 each
Portrush is motorhome unfriendly stay a way.
Spend your money else where.

heres a simple sum.....

50 motorhomes spend a modest 20 quid each(ramore head) equals £1000

10 motorhomes spend a modest 20 quid (aire) equals £200

how can they possibly argue against money spent
20 quid is very modest as most have at least one meal out , shopping , etc

plus as we are licenced vehicles we can drive on any road, where do we park for the day in portrush ?
i am sure the traffic wardens will now be watching for motorhomes parked in the town.

I'm in Portrush today although not in the Motorhome . I was in the so called Motorhome Park behind the Fire Station . My honest opinion is that it is a disgrace to ask anyone with a Motorhome to park there as you will need to carry a lot of levelling equipment with you to get your vehicle levelled .one Motorhome there today was built up at one side with 4 pieces of wood 3" thick The people behind this whole project including some of the counciller shopkeepers who I know back it have spent a lot of ratepayers money to keep Motorhomes out of Ramore Head carpark. I will not ever use this carpark and will not support the owner of the clothes shop in the town centre who has a lot to do with it as a local councellor. They are a shower of no brainers who should pay the price for doing this!!!
I have to add and and say that the Motorhomers will not be the losers in all of this as we can go and spend our money elsewhere

Yeah I agree lets get the news out that Portrush don't want us or our money. I certainly will not be ever going near Portrush in the future.

I've been coming up from Bordeaux today to Cherbourg and ever villeage I've passed brought had an Aire. Tonight I'm in a Motel at Alencon and there's an Aire across the Road. I went in to the small Resturant close by and it was full of folk from the Aire. How stupid the Portrush folk are and what trade they could get if they would take the lead. The guy who owns the Resturant is English and he told me he has a constant clientele from the Aire.

Jack, what was your reason for going via Caen to Cherbourg? I am currently planning my route from Cherbourg and everytime I make this journey I always end up going via Rennes/Nantes
