I did get involved with a heated discussion on another thread with the Post Code Man, (A Representative from the Motorhome Association). The thread really got hijacked with the Motorhome Association. Im glad there is a thread associated with MA queries. As I have a few queries as to who they really are and who they represent. Maybe the Postcode man or indeed any other member of the Motorhome Assiciation could answer a couple of my questions.

1. How do you join the association
2. Does it have a constitution
3. When are the meetings
4. How is the chairman and committee elected
5. Were is the Registered address of the MA Headquarters
6. Is there a Website were we can get up to date information on Motorhome Issues

Oh and apologies for refering to the member of the MA as the Postcode man but he has not revieled his identidy to me. As you can see I always give my full name. Although I have only owned a Motorhome for a couple of years I have driven all type of HGV's and Buses, (Wheeled and Tracked), Vehicles on British/Irish and European Roads. So I believe I am very experienced in the Transport Industry. So common the MA. Speak to me please. thankyou.

Ok your reply . Yes the answer to your question is yes I have attended meetings with the southern governments tourism minister and the assembly's tourism minister. A motorhome insite day was hosted in the Stormont hotel by the minister for our brand of tourism. We have secured 21sites and two service points in Portrush an Aire in Donaghadee we have been granted a high level meeting with Failte ireland hosted by the tourism minister. We have discussed official recognition and a pilot scheme to formalise the use of earne shannon waterways . I could go on for ever all of this is funded by me at no cost to anyone else for your benefit I use my contacts in politics to open doors. I trust you enjoy the fruits of our labour . Now what have you to offer me sir

Is there a posting on here that I am not seeing, because what I see being posted is nothing but a load of politician type flannel. Colin asked simple direct questions and all you have done is repeat what you have said before and while it is grateful for what you have achieved could you answer the questions. All you are doing is reinforcing people's perceptions of who and what the motorhome association is.

Postcode Man - Im still none the wiser.
You say you have done all this stuff. Opened doors and spoke on behalf of the 10,000 Irish Motorhomers across the island of Ireland.
You mentioned Donaghadee and the red hot subject of Portrush. If indeed it was you who negotiated this, then fair play to you. But seeing as you seem to be a bit of an anigma I am somewhat skeptical
SO.
1. Who you are
2. Can we all join and help.
It would be nice if you answered my original query then we can all get on. Maybe!!!

If your a one man band then surely if you are open with us then we could all make a difference to motorhoming in Ireland.

Folks, Ive been reluctant to get involved in all this stuff that's going on. My say in all of this is simply this - if bq125rx whoever he is (notice he is a free member - why doesn't he become a subscribed member if he is so interested in and has accomplished so much for us) can't be open and honest about himself and what he has accomplished or not accomplished for motor homers let him take a running jump and fade off the radar and let us all enjoy Motorhome Caric what it was original intended for.

You could not have put it any better Jack, what both Colin and I have been asking is simple to answer but all we have got is as seen above. Although n the other thread I got an order/demand/request to email him, to what end, all it would do is take it away from the public view, which I feel is not in the interest of those on here who don't know anything about the motorhome association. Ally and a few others know who/what/where etc the association is but from what I can see from the posts they are not allowed to say anything!

Im done with the post code man. He wont even answer important questions put to him. Must be a politian me thinks. :ninja:
Life is too short to worry about arrogant boys like that.
He will fade out of our lives. hehe
Now down to more important things in life.

Looking forward to this weekend in Ballycastle.
Oh and a Happy Birthday to you Jack.

portrush..21 stopover places for Motorhomer's has now been reduced to 10.
Ramore head now also disabled for Motorhomers, a hell of a lot more than 10 vans visited there.

what is the associations view on this?
I am sure a lot more was promised

Bob he will come on with a load of BLARNEY - probably on St Patrick's Day. Sorry for being so syndical St Patrick wouldn't do such a thing as he was a man of integrity and honour.

to be fair, i know they have spent some considerable time campaigning for portrush facilities and this wouldnt have been the outcome they expected.

As you are aware, I have been in contact with the MA, I was prepared to go to meetings, I asked a question on a different matter and received the following:

Quote
Motorhome Craic is a Forum and cannot join
The Motor Home Association .
Christine

So there you go then,

Bewildered from Antrim.

LOL

I see the association have yet to answer the questions posted by Colin in this thread.

I also noticed that bq125rex has not logged in since the day after his last post in this tread so maybe he has failed to read the questions and will reply in time.

He was asked the same questions in another thread and then again on this one and all we got was a load of waffle, as you would expect to receive from a politician, and a lot of toot toot tooting of his own trumpet on what he has done, but still can't tell anyone who or what the MA is

It was great seeing the support coming through today from ICCC as in recent weeks we have had emails from Chris Quinn Chair of the motorhome association who has expressed her disappointment in the facility that DCC have suggested as Motorhomers would have to bear the costs of stay per night created by caravanners, hence they nor members of motorhome craic would not support the proposed site. Hopefully though this press piece today will be more positive.
This was sent to me today.I have been trying to get some kind of campsite in Derry.I can't understand this.

total gibberish to us too.

by the way, motorhome craic does not have any links to the motorhome association as we are a forum, not a club !
so basically one club in ireland supports them.

Guys, the way to feed a fire is to give it AIR. Stand back and don't fee the subject and see what happens. Do what my wife does when I'm in a rage - IGNORE me.

At no time did anyone from Motorhome craic state that, so that's a fabrication. I/We are not aware of the proposed site or where it is.

Thanks for posting what you received Gerry.
I regret to say that this is the sort of non information I have come to expect from the MA.

It could be read in several different ways, one being they are rejecting something and stating that this forum is not willing to support that something either. If this is the case it would be nice to know what it is we are rejecting.
Sorry if I am totally wrong here.

@Jack
I agree with your philosophy on standing back but I would be unsure if that would work in this instance. It appears the MA are intent on continuing their policy of very limited downward dissemination of the information. (More commonly known as the mushroom treatment.)

It would be nice to have an occasional update from them however meagre it may be.
Maybe some light will be shed on this latest cryptic message.

Well done Tom and well done to the MA for finally sorting themselves out and going public.
At least there is a contact address for any questions.

This new site can only help the association in moving forward.
I am very happy to see this development.

Very nice neat site. I notice that it is possible to apply to have reps appointed to the association. All interested clubs under the one association could present a really strong powerful lobby group to enhance motorhomer's profiles amongst the relevant powers.

I have been away for a few weeks and seem to have missed a lot. Good to see the association getting a website with lots of good info on it. I have been all through it and can only find an answer to one point of the six asked by Colinbredin. Still no mention of the other five. Only time will tell I suppose.

The Motorhome Association have asked that their account on this website be deleted. As per the T&C's on signup I have obliged but their posts will remain.

Therefore I am closing this thread and suggest that if you have any questions for the Motorhome Association you visit THIS Website.
