We stayed here in 2011 nice site & very friendly people only charged £10 because we spent money in bar. Food is not always available there was a barbecue on the night we were there and they invited us to join good food & a dance on £10 and made very welcome.

Stayed at the Shepherds last night. Great spot. They do food only when there is a function and I had a fantastic turkey and ham lunch and a drink, and the cost of the stay including the meal was 20.00. The owner and staff could not have been friendlier. The pub seems to be a hot spot for people cycling the Sperrins. There was music in the pub last night but I did not go into it on my Todd but should be great with company. Facilities include hairdryers, fridge and there appears to be washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a stone built cottage on the sites for campers with an open fire, kettle, seating for a craic sing song and a further shed for groups at the top of the sites. There is bike washing facilities also. Today I had sunday lunch in Draperstown, 5 mile from the site. The road from Draperstown to the shepherds is quite narrow. The road from Omagh via Greencastle is at times "2 sheep abreast",seldom crossing 40 mph for 12 miles. There is a small amount of renovation going on on the sites which has reduced the ehu by 2 currently and access has been diverted through the main car park.
All in all a great spot and we'll worth a visit.

UPDATED April 2015 ********************* Craic review updated.
Spent a few relaxing nights at The Shepherds Rest again this week. Colin has done a fantastic job on the new amenities block in the barn adjacent to the the campsite. A communal area containing table tennis table, pool table, vending machine and information about the local area including bicycle trails and walks in the nearby Davagh forest. Also seating boots tables of 4 either 28 or 32. Adjoining the communal area are a kitchen and male, female and disabled toilets. The gents toilets are new modern well lit and well ventilated,as well as immaculately clean. There are 3 each toilet cubicles, shower cubicles, urinals and sinks.
A seperate new hardstanding area has been arranged for overnighting with no facilities at 10 per night. Otherwise 15.00 with all facilities.
Colin told me he has a few big events coming up including an All Ireland motorcycle and sidecar camping weekend and a Motorhome club meet that had 50 attendees last time, so it may be advisable to ring first.
Their website has been updated to show the new facilities
No 3 mobile signal on site but is available towards Draperstown. BT wifi can be picked up around the bar so if you have BT internet remember to take your password.
