Chambord chateau is nice to see but don't be tempted to stay there as overnighting is expensive and no services. There are a lot of sites around that area but I found that the municipal ones were the cheapest and as good as the private ones.
Hi Bunny> Stayed in Saumur after arriving in the valley and the site is on an island on the river in the middle of the town.Has pool and you can walk into town.Lovely area ,you will love it.We followed the river up to Angiers and then to Le Manns.Nice small towns all along the river.Hope this helps. Cool

Saumer is very nice. As said, town is a cul-de-sac if you drive the camper in, you will find it hard to reverse out. There is a very good WW11 museum just outside the town. Also it is a wine area, the Saumer wine (red) is my favourite. White also available.
