We were looking for somewhere to go this weekend when I saw the link above. Thought it was a good idea but then saw your reservations. Any other suggestions.

We have done all the old reliables North and South that are open at this time of year.

Don't go by me.
I have never stayed there.

I just don't like the area. I have always wondered why anyone would have ever put a site there.

I am.sure it is fine. Allly seems to like it.

Just wondering; do they park you in the regular spots in the campsite or is it similar to an aire where everyone is quite tightly side by side? Also does in include electric hook-up or not?

I must agree with Mark. I really don't fancy Dundonald at all. I have had to leave the ice bowl with children in the past because of yob activity. Personally I would prefer a night in Afganistan :bandit:

I would'nt hesitate to come back here, it's quite a bit away from the ice bowl with big locked gates. i'm Sure they have rioted here before, show me somewhere they hav'nt? I feel safer here than when I have wild camped.

Pity we are not away this weekend Dave. It would have been good to meet another Craic member.
Do you travel north much over winter?

No photos, was going to take some today but we had to rush of this morning. It was very quiet, in fact I am not joking when I say it was the quietest campsite I have been on all year!

I had a good yarn with the warden this morning while I was waiting on getting my deposit back for the key. I asked him if they get much trouble and mentioned roughly what has been said here. He said he has been there since 2001 and they had a few guys that came in whilst their were people staying there and done some wrecking, I got the impression it was quite bad. But he said that was three years ago and they have had no trouble since.

Well we went up to Dundonald but the gates were locked when we got there. Couldn't see anyone else in there either. I think it might have been possible to get in if we had gone to reception in the Ice Bowl but we didn't want to be the only van in the place and also being behind locked gates didn't appeal.

Anyway we decided to head down to Tollymore and it was absolutely buzzing. There didn't seem to more than about 5 or 6 spots left. On Sunday we took the walk down to Newcastle and it was really bustling. With the blue skies that were in it for the weekend we had a great weekend.

Maybe when the season is a little busier we might give Dundonald another go. However Tollymore is still hard to beat.

Sorry we were not away this weekend as we probably would have been in Tollymore. It would have been nice to meet up. I am still interested in seeing your motorhome too.

Might go to Tollymore this weekend coming.

Don't really know when we'll be heading off next. It may not be until the week after Christmas though.

I'll put a post up anyway; possibly looking for suggestions and we can see if there is any coomon ground going.

There are no problems with the Dundonald Site...a lot of people don't even know it's there and it's in an area close to private housing.

Evening all,

Can anyone give me an update on the Dundonald Ice bowl site.

Is it secure and do you feel at ease there? Has it any ambience and is it being used much.

Up to date cost would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Davy

Hi Davey, apparently I can't be found in the DB at MHCraic. Maybe you have to register each year?

Davy,

Can you pass this info onto JWW please. Accounts that have not signed into Motorhomecraic for more than 12 months will be deleted.

cheers,
Ally

Hi Ally,

I was not aware that inactive accounts were deleted. Sounds like JWW was not aware of this either.

I will pass this info on, If he wishes to re-register does he need to use a different username?

Davy
