I'm trying to figure out why we're burning up a bunch of GB at home. Our Broadband account is capped at 40GB a month for a fixed monthly rate and every GB used beyond that is €1 per GB. We exceed that limit regularly.
I'm trying to figure out what are the big hitters in terms of usage.
I blame my son (kinda) as he's on the internet for hours at a time either youtubing or gaming on xbox live, multiplayer. But to be fair I also visit web forums such as MHcraic, biker sites, welding sites. At the most, I guess I'd flip through maybe 40-50 web forum pages in an evening.
Most are typical forum threads like we have here on MHcraic, but some pages I flip through can be photo heavy.
A typical example of a very photo heavy thread would be something like this on the retrorides forum -
http://retrorides.proboards.co…224&page=1
Each photo here is around 60kb on average so I limit my visits to these type of threads.
I'm wondering how many KB or MB would a typical thread page consume when opening it, one with only one or two photos?
Is there any software I could download to my laptop that'd log the MB I'm using while web browsing on a daily basis? Or better still something that would monitor ALL of the devices in the house that hub through our wireless wifi router?
