Sharing Wildcamping Spots

Seen this brought up a few times, should we be sharing wildcamping spots publicly? Some say that we are only highlighting them for councils to put height barriers up, or we are making them to popular and some may abuse them.

What do you think?

(multiple choice possible)

I think you're right Ally. It'd make it far too easy for the councils to take a list of wildcamping spots and use it to erect barriers. Good point.

What about keeping them within the subscribed members area and/or sending an email to each fully paid member with a list of them?

Hi, Folks.
Hardcopy would be nice- it would be helpful when you have no computer access. Maybe pay a few €s for same?

We are talking about that at the moment.
Ally and I discussed it again only a few days ago.

Personally no problem wild camping .....share and share alike. It's when you turn up to a spot and someones using like a campsite.......dumping rubbish after them and emptying their waste tanks, then it is no wonder we have barriers. Twice I have tackled people over their behaviour and have been told to f#*k off. Won't tell the outcome.. Have stayed in out of the way places all over ireland and left it the way I found.......you'd never know we were there.
That's my tuppence worth. ...

The problem here is a former member appears to be copying the POI's as they are added and making them free which defeats our keeping the information somewhat under control. As the damage is already done to an extent with links plastered all over the place to the former members site......I would suggest that the current database is left in place for free members and the updated versions with the new and latest information kept exclusively in the subscribed members section.

I disagree Peter. Certainly I've no problem with sharing some, but there is work involved all round by certain people and then there is the cost of running the site. Every little thing that helps subscriptions (such as updates from the basic free file) help towards the site costs. These sites don't make profit for several years after they have been established and invariably Ally & Julie will be somewhat out of pocket until that happens, so I say everything that encourages a subscription is a positive. Most of us volunteer something small in one way or other, whether it be time, or a service, or simply bringing food and refreshment to a meeting to help the whole membership and site move forward together.

Subscribed members only folks it would give the likes of myself and other the kick in the A** to subscribe
we used to use the far side of Ardmore beach till the barrier when up and now we park under the NO camper sign in the village so to the councils barriers don't fix the problem, now i add it's not in high season, i spoke to a local shop keeper and asked if it would be ok to over night in the parking spot i was in and he was only too delighted, again within reason that you dont block up the whole area

Hi Pat, I don't understand your post, Are you saying you would not subscribe to Motorhomecraic because Waterford Co Co put up barriers in Ardmore?

Sorry chausson
the link between the brain and the fingers is not always 100%

what i was trying to say was share wild camping spots with subscribed users only

also restrict the amount of posts a free member can post

i learned about Ardmore spot on the forum and maybe so did a lot of others

The subscribe button/link should be more visible, I am not knocking anyone's work and i appreciate the forum and info from it

now i had better finish my subscription
