BILBOA parking.
we planning in staying in BILBOA for a few days, any suggestions for a good spot to park, I'm going to try for Autocaravaning Kobetamendi straight off the boat, it a first come basis, so looking for alternatives?

I looked at the parking around Bilboa myself last year and Autocaravaning Kobetamendi seems to be the only decent place to stay, there's an expensive half assed Aire attached to a hostel and the rest of the parking seems to be in car parks, ferry arrives early so you should get a place when others leave

That’s really all there is in the whole area even close to the city, there’s a bus every half hour or so leaves at the bottom of the road, check your satnav route beforehand if you’re staying there as one of the options is a steep one way street,

We stayed at Zamudio, 48170, Biscay, Spain, easter gone the night before the ferry home....its a free Aire and next to a small town with a train station that'll bring ye to bilboa...bins,grey and black waste available at aire but water was turned off when we were there...its about 30mins drive from bilboa port...the aire on the hill over looking bilboa was full and so was the hostel Aire so went mooching on search for sites and found that aire which i would def use again ....there was about 20 vans there the night we stayed.

Overnight parking is allowed at Zierbena right in the port virtually and we stayed there overnight waiting on the boat the other week, but not sure if it would suit for a couple of days

We stayed here
https://maps.app.goo.gl/vjyFqW45PXw29A5t6
It's near Bilbo. There's a train 2 minutes walk away with a train going into Bilbo every 20 minutes and its only a 20 minute journey.
The aires themselves are basic, but safe.

Thats the same place we stayed at.....be careful if navigating to it by google maps though as it brought us down a rural road with room for one vehicle,It had a sharp bend on it that may be difficult for larger vans to get around...

Yes I've looked at that also handy for bus and train into the city.

For Bilbao we have stayed on the Aire up in the hills, it’s fine and I would say that based on either ferry arrival time in the port you’ll get a pitch. If you have your dog with you the park to it is next great. Now we tend to stay at Zierbena in the Carpark next to the harbour, no services so that might limit how long you can stay there. We have also just gone there after the early ferry arrives as it’s 10 minutes from the port and a nice place to walk the dog and have breakfast before heading off further. I’ve stayed overnight a few times and always had motorhomes for company overnight.

On the way. 3.1/2 hours out, Delayed about an hour.

We parked up overnight in the Coal Bunker in Drinagh, dinner and a three drinks each abour €70 + free overnight parking.
(Reminder the kitchen closes at 8.45)
Friends joined us for drinks, they had intended parking in the port car park, but the barrier was across it. Supervalue car park had a lot of Campers and tractor units parked up..
We booked the C Lounge, so far Breakfast was great, lunch has a good variety of dishes, including Red, Whit and Rose.
Sea is running about 4.to 5. With around a 3 second roll. Free 90 min WiFi no pause.

90 min WiFi is pretty good, I got it on my phone and then when that ran out I got it on the laptop. Might be different if you have them both linked. Have a good trip and enjoy. I'll be home a week tomorrow and I'm fed up and missing it already.

Don't dally off the boat if you want to get in here, bring grub with you for the first night, do you supermarket shop the next day.
Just about got in, last pitch , Google maps a nightmare. Went down into the city last night, to eat, did the bus and tram to the Guggenheim today,, feet walked off of me in 17000 steps 12k. Nice evening now sitting in the park with a beverage, hard to find a nicer spot.

A dozen vans turned away disappointed in the last hour, they could probably double the place and still fit it.

Moved to Playa De Los Tranquilos,
43.463661,-3.726802, camping Derby Loredo, couldn't recommend it, other than the location, but No Management, was probably great in 1970.
Had a wonder around Santander.
Now we move on Twins in Suances.

43.430534,-4.039361 €12 x24 hours. Lovely local beach 5 min water cold due to river. May stay few days.

Great wee town you’ll not get much closer to town than that field.

We traveled on to visit the Caves of Altamira, ( reconstruction of the original) worth a visit, after lunch we headed for laguardia, lovely historic walled town, best to arrive late afternoon to get somewhere to park. Managed to get one between the olive trees,

Moved off the next afternoon, locally to, elciego, to buy wine, lovely free Air.,( Ehu 12hrs for a €2 tokin)

Found a great wild site, out in the sticks, . Recommend by the lady of the Wine Bodegas for a swim in the Ebro.
