If you’ve been enjoying toll-free highways in Spain, here’s some good news: the government has no plans to bring back toll charges where they have already been removed.

That means key routes, including the popular AP-7 between France and Barcelona, will stay free—a huge relief for both locals and European travellers.

If they didn't want to remove them in France they could at least spread them out more! Did Valencia to Cherbourg last year, 1 max two toll booths in Spain, and did one (what felt like) every ten mins in France 😆, always right as the doggo was falling asleep too!!

I think that in France the problem is also that there are many companies that own highways and I think they do not have agreements for one time payment.
Which does not happen for example in Italy where you can go from Aosta or from Brenner pass to Bari without finding booths or to Reggio Calabria finding just one.

The best method remains the Swiss one (cheap annual vignette) or even the Austrian one and almost all Eastern European countries with electronic vignettes (week, month or year).

Dont remember seeing anything on any tolls about 3.5 to. We were charged car rates for the van at all tolls. Did Bilbao down past Madrid to Gibraltar, Ronda, Granada then hugged the coast to Sitges and back to Pamplona. Had we been in France it would have cost a small fortune in tolls. Plus the diesel is a lot cheaper
