1989 Talbot Autohomes Merlin - never got to use it, then

2005 Lunar Champ 670G, great van but hated the layout no relaxing area just a dining table.

Only reason we started looking at Vans was because of music festivals, after years in a tent we had enough, no toilet, no where to wash, couldn't stand up! and worst of all NO FRIDGE!

Now that we have a van, there is so much more to them than music festivals although that is our favourite thing to do in the van.

The people we have met, the places we have been is just fantastic - although a lot of that has a lot to do with this website (if I may say so myself).

Motorhoming - can't beat it :)

The one I have is my first 2008 Knaus 650MF, we had been caravaning for years and just got fed up with having to go to sites for a full weekend or more. It had the space but was so inflexible as to where you could go(or want to go) so when I got the chance I moved into the MH and now have the flexibility to go where, when and for as long as I want even if its only to the seaside for the afternoon.

We have met a great bunch of people through here and got some good advice and tips which has made all the more enjoyable.

Ally,

Yes, you may say so. But agree 100%.

Like you we started off in the tent, and by tent i mean a small 2 person tent, great great memories but could never go back to that. We used to walk round Tollymore and look in at the motorhomers and think, camping, what would they know about camping, look at them sitting watching TV, why would you go camping and watch TV!!! Now as Ally can vouch, Stevie couldnt get the TV working at the weekend - oh dear, end of world. Suffice to say he spent an hour last night and he is a happy bunny, its fixed (time will tell)

We got our wee swift ducati mainly as we follow the bikes - and i for one find sitting in a motorhome peeping over a hedge at a road race much more comfortable from the van than lying in a hedge..... enough said. We are away most weekends, its a great life and the places we have been and people we have met have been fantastic. We have only been motorhoming since 2009.

Nothing like sitting in the warm cosy van with the rain pelting down and reading a good book. And then the door knocks and another friendly motorhomer calls in for a drink, what a life.

Hope to be motorhoming until we are 100.

Deirdre

I sold my big static when the family lost interest and bought an old talbot swift to see if I liked the idea of motorhomeing. Got the bug and traded in for my current van. Tax and insurance is much cheaper than site fees and the freedom is great.... go anywhere anytime. WE have met some great people since we changed over. Long may it last

Started camping with an air bed in the back of a Isuzu trooper and an American Napier Sportz Tent clipped to the Back six years ago, It worked very well as we could drive away from the tent and tour in the jeep, The down side was you always had to use sites and it was a pain putting up the tent in the rain. Then we moved on to our current Motorhome Three years ago, a Chausson welcome 70 low profile, Must say we are using it more and more each year especially since we discovered Motorhomecraic.

A commer.....Devon ....I think. A friend bought it and used it very little. We took it to Doolin and apart from boiling when pushed to fifty mph.........it was grand. Ended up bringing it to Paris via le harve with my now wife and two friends, what a week. Stayed on a site beside the seine and apart from having two pairs of jeans stolen we had a ball......twenty six years ago!!!!. Was hooked but took many years to purchase a Jf converted Volkswagen which we had for five years. That's another story. ...
