A friend of mine is having trouble with his combi boiler. When trying to light combustion fan runs at low speed, then high speed for a few seconds then stops. Fault light blinking points to combustion fan or wiring loom but fan seems to be running OK. Gas and electric supplies seem to be fine. Any idea's

Advise him to call Simon at Leisure Technical Solutions.
But before he dose, have the details of make, model and year, plus most important have the light sequence written down, there is only the number of flashes and sequence ie, 1--- 4 --- 3--- 2, there is no slow or fast although they may seem to be.
Check it several times to be sure he has it correct, from this information he will be able to analyse the problem.
All of the above with a full battery charge and a good gas supply.

He sorted out the heater on my 09 last year. So worth a phone call.

Told me he wouldn't look at anything over ten year old.

Van is 2011. Light indicate fault with combustion fan or wiring to fan but it seems to be working fine.

Could be a damaged exhaust or a whole in it. Some machines when they turn on they start up for 10 or 20 seconds to pressure test the inlet and exhaust pipes. they have to be a specific length with on holes in it. It could of been rubbing off the underbody of the van or on the bracket that is holding it on. Its worth having a look under the van.

Heater has a balanced flue which goes out through the side of the van. If heater is run on electric to heat water until it gets warm then the heater will light on gas.

When I took my heater out, the vent had at least an egg cup full of dead fly's and spiders. Which didn't help the flue gasses escape.
