I am starting to look at the options for a portable power station. (4 days with no electricity focuses the mind). Something that could be used at home, in the Motorhome and by my son in the Defender and roof tent.

Biggest issue is that no one seems to be willing to post them to this side of the sheugh. (NI)

I seem to be relying on Argos, Go outdoors and Curry’s. With Jackery, Ecoflow and Anker a possibility. Thinking of a budget of £500.

Interested in any views/reviews of any out there.

I don't have the problem, but was thinking along the same lines, instead of putting €10/12k of solar on the roof, why not use a portable power unit that could be charged with one panel ( that I can install myself) something like the one Ally was looking at. The point being that if there was a few peoe thinking same way it would be worth while, clubbing together and someone going over to the Big island and bringing them back,?

Noisy bugger.

I can sleep on top of mine with it full tilt, listen to music with my ear beside it and can meditate outside while using it as a seat.

It's big!

When it arrived I thought it would need it's own trailer! It was up to my waist, but after unboxing it's below my knee. The problem is the power lead to connect battery pack at bottom to the brains at the top, it's bulky.

So be careful what room you have in the van which one you order.

I've asked them about a 90 degree plug for same lead, they are considering it.

Photo later.

We got a vtoman1500 that can peak at 3000 watts and a 100 watt panel to charge it ,was brilliant for airfryer and other power hungry stuff in short bursts,I just got into the habit of putting the solar panel out at every park up as soon as I stopped they can be charged while driving, wouldn’t be without it ,you really have to keep checking for discount codes

The Bluetti can be charged via 12v(ciggy lighter socket), DC to DC(direct from alternator 560w), Solar, 240v, straight off 12v batteries and some of those combined.

Is that the Jump 1500. Also do you need to use the same brand solar panel or could I fit a generic one to the top of the roof tent and run the connector inside to any power station.

Yes 1500 jump but I didn’t buy separate jump start leads, cause I have a wee noco booster pack in the van, I got the same brand solar panel to avoid them not matching and avoiding sending back and all that toing and froing nonsense, if you just keep checking which YouTuber at the moment is offering a discount code , I didn’t want to try and link it to roof panel because i wanted a totally separate power source, and a way to charge separate power source, when we were away there we only went to site’s maybe once a week just to fully charge it if was getting low, but it like I said you just get into habit of first job when you park up solar lead out and charge away

My plan is to charge off 12v when driving, rooftop solar (300w) when parked and plug the van into it so the van is constantly 240v.

With a crossover switch to bring the van back to charging leisures off the solar if needed, and charging leisures off 12v if needed.

When I was looking for a portable power bank I posted on this forum and someone (apologies I can’t remember who) said there are comparisons of the various different makes on Youtube. After watching a few it seemed that the recharge time of Bluetti and Ecoflow were at the time I was looking much quicker than other makes, in addition these two makes would still be able to be upto 80% of their capacity after something like 10000 full cycles.

I went with a small ecoflow river and it’s been great for me. But if I were to buy now I would buy one that you can buy an extra battery with it to add capacity/length of use.

I haven’t tried YouTube yet but I will. In addition to the charge time, max Watts, Watt hours and additional battery option, there are also some with a 2 year warranty and others up to 5 years. I have a couple that seem to fit the bill, just need to find the best deal available. Great feedback, thank you.

There are a few deals on Bluetti at the moment. Not as good as the flash sale I got on boxing day but pretty good.
They are showing in the Bluetti app.

We have an Ecoflow Delta 2 Max and find it great both on the road and when we lose power at home. It's has a 2 kWhr capacity, upgradable to 6 I think.
We have installed an internal hookup point inside the garage to be able to have 240v as if we were connected to shore power. Have also a changeover switch installed to prevent making the outdoor hookup live inadvertently. Works a treat.

I also got the Delta 2 max power, it is extendable, charges in an hour, also while driving on 12v and optional extra of a solar panel for it too... a little on the expensive side, but a definitely worth it.
It's about the size of a cooler box.

I got it in Kildare, company called off your grid...

The Delta 2 Max has a great spec but a bit beyond my current budget. I have registered with both bluetti and Vtoman. Both have discounts and additional vouchers. Now, which one. 🤔

Decided to take a chance on the allpowers r1500....€539 euro delivered to ROI with discount code EUALLPOWERS I picked up from mr google...after looking at a few more reviews and for that kind of money I think it's worth a shot...I wouldn't be relying on it myself as we usually go to campsites with the kids but it'd come in handy anytime off grid like dicks field or cobh aire etc for the airfryer/coffee machine and obviously it'll be handy to power the freezers etc if the power goes at home instead of having to get the genny going and looking for petrol....placed the order last night and just got an email saying its dispatched...5yr warranty when registered on there site,it's made in China but then I think alot of these lithium batteries are, even the more expensive branded ones.

Tried Vtoman, they won’t accept my address for delivery in NI. Had a look at Allpowers and they also exclude NI. Are you paying extra postage to ROI. This reluctance to post batteries to NI is beyond a joke.

I tried using PayPal and it refused to continue. I had emailed them but they are closed for the Chinese new year. Maybe try a card payment and see what happens.

What’s worse is they have just wished me a happy birthday and sent a code for another £100 off.

I bought the r1500 on the allpowers eu website and delivery was included in the price to ROI..shipped from germany....maybe try the UK website....discount code "REDS" should give you a 10% discount.

Jackery winter sale started today. Went for the Explorer 1000 v2. An email with an extra 3% off with code Winter3 helped to pay for the postage. A bit of child pressure came into play. 🤣

Thanks for all the comments.

So got the Allpowers R1500 delivered yesterday...nobody was at home and the dope of a delivery driver dropped the box over a six foot wall at my front entrance as the gates were locked....what a di*k...he didnt even take the time to ring me☹...I took it in expecting the worst but it worked straight out of the box to my surprise...Happy days😃..luckily it was packed in moulded polystyrene...I tested it with a 1800w hairdryer and it worked a treat..will give it a good testing now and see how it goes...

That's some drop test ... what a plonker of a delivery driver.
Glad it's working for you.
