Finally got an answer to the phone and in my best Spanglish I was advised no need to book, just turn up.
A bit too far west for Bilbao but only 30ish kilometres from Bilbao.

Seems a nice place so we’ll trundle that way on Monday

Yes @sprinter a lovely stopover. Facilities A1, everything you need and more. 4 minute walk to the village.

The downside was that all eateries were closed as it was a Monday.

30 mins to Bilbao, 45 mins to Santander.

The setting is amazing in the bottom of the valley and a gem if your a hiker/biker, the owner gives you a sheet of info with recommended walks and bike rides.

Bar was open and the pool but restaurant was closed, probably cos it was a Monday!
