You may not be aware but our native Irish honeybee is under threat. See here https://nihbs.org/2022/04/20/protect-our-native-bee/ The native Irish Honeybee society, an all island body, is establishing conservation areas throughout the island. You can help by declaring your garden, farm, estate, forest or bog a conservation area for the native Irish honeybee. You don't have to keep bees or or do any special planting or anything like that. All you would be committing to is to not allow any non native bees to be placed on your land. Help the bees help us all.

” The genetic integrity of the black bee population in Ireland is the envy of black bee breeders across Europe. Ideally, our entire country should become a special area of conservation” Helen Mooney in “The Native Irish Honey Bee, Apis Mellifera Mellifera”

I was stung
On the sole of my foot by a black European bee the other day. It hurt like Billy oh. Little effer left the bag and stinger in my foot so I was able to get it out. That's one gone

Serves you right for walking on the poor girl   When the bee stings she dies trying to pull the stinger back out. Never try to pull out the stinger with your fingers, you'll only squeeze more venom in from the sack attached to it. The best way to remove it is to scrape it out with something like a knife or even a long fingernail, or better still stop trampling all over the poor creatures. :P

I was a boy scout so I knew to scrape it off. The missus offered to take it out with tweezers but I'm not that slow, she would have given it a good squeeze
