The baffle in the flue has fallen down onto the gas jet / ignition on the fridge stopping the fridge igniting, I thought this was held on a wire at the top of the flue but not in my case, will the fridge work properly if I remove the baffle as I can't see a way of getting it back to where it should be

Dave I'm not sure why but this I found in the past,
This baffle is necessary for the propane function of the fridge. Sometimes when cooling units are installed, the Flue Baffle is not reinstalled, and the fridge will not operate on propane as a result. Follow this video.

It looks like id have to take the fridge out to get the baffle back in the top, I'm off to Spain at the weekend so that's not a runner , I was thinking of trying to get the baffle back up the flue with some kind of spring loaded wire attached to stop it falling back down, I've put an ice cube maker in the freezer and I'll see if it'll make ice, will decide where to go from there

If you could feed a couple of strands of piano wire ( about 1mm) then make hook ends, put it back up, then feed the ends out trough the elbow to the outside of the outlet exhaust bend them over the outlet. If you look at the video it will show how it should be.
Good luck with the holiday.

The freezer made ice last night so the fridge works without the baffle, I tried your idea Martin but couldn't get the wire in the top so I tried from the bottom and once it reached the top stuck again, there's a T piece and I don't know what's going on inside it and can't get near it to work on it,

I might try to push it up and hope the piece of wire stops it coming back down again

Interesting.

My fridge works fine on hookup but no good on gas (though it is lighting and using gas!)

Will have a look at the video and then try get at the fridge to see if it's set up ok.

The baffle helps the transfer of heat from the flu to the cooling liquid, I know it sounds perverse.
Without the baffle the fridge will still work but not as efficiently as it should.

That looks like a good McIvor, I think I'd make it with 4 legs. 👍

It's in , not as high up as it was, I pushed it up with heavy battery cable, ends splayed to make a kind of brush head , only thing I could get to bend into the bottom of the flue,,, McIvor 😂

Check this out, if you follow the drawing, the baffle support wire 102 goes up trough 116 exhaust tube extension, and hangs over edge and is kept in ace by the slot you see in 117,
What I was suggesting was to take out all of 121,and feed the wire in from the top trough 118, 119,117,116, and down trough the Flue, fix the baffle to it and put it up into place, then reassemble 121 while holding the wire outside, ancher it to the outside of 122.
The baffle hanging is about the same length as the baffle.

116-117 not accessable and the rest aren't there , I pushed it up the flue and think it'll stay there although probably not in the exact place it should be in

Got around to having a look at this today, I think the baffle is in ok I think I hear it rattle if I lift and drop the catch on the top of the pipe.

Not sure about the top part of the exhaust, the outlet is very close to the external (removable) plastic cover, I don’t suppose that the rectangular plate should actually be on the inside?

Darren, It fits on the outside and flush with the back of the cover pressed into the little nibs on each side, and there also should be a perferated cover cap over the end of the exhaust to stop the bugs going in.

Thanks for the info Martin.
The plate isn’t wide enough to be retained by the nibs in the sides, I may drill it and put some self tappers into it to hold it back. I might just bite the bullet and take the fridge out to see why the exhaust is pushing out anyway.
First step will be to try the fridge on gas with the plastic exterior cover off to see if it improves the performance while on gas, maybe it’s a bit restrictive and not allowing it to cool the fridge properly.

A couple of spots of silicone will do the job. On the Euramobile fridge I found a lot of rust dust in the combustion head, probably from the exhaust tube and baffle, also on the end if the gas feed pipe,( it's metal and rusts on the inside) if you do take the fridge out it would be worth while running a bit of flex wire and WD to clean it or replace the pipe, also polish the baffle and run a wire brush trough thr exhaust, a good brushing and blow out got it working really well for us without taking the fridge out.
Be very carefull of the bowler hat jet if you are blowing out the burner head the gas pipe seats against it and you may not even know it's there ( btdt)

So I don’t think the exhaust is an issue, the flame looks good to me (though the regulator doesn’t seem to make a huge difference between 0 and 8 🤔)

Cleaned out the exhaust and left it running overnight, temp inside in the morning was only a couple of degrees below ambient.
Going to run it again overnight on electric to make sure I’m comparing like with like.

My understanding is that the dial regulator only works with electricity.
But I’ve been known to be wrong 😊

The flame looks good, Is the thermocouple sitting correctly into the flame, when you change from position 1 to 8 you should see a considerable change in the strength of the flame. It might be the thermocouple is not working.

🤔🤔
In mine the flame is a constant strength, it's on periods are determined by the length of time required to meet the temperature setting of the fridge.

I thought the thermocouple was just to detect a flame and shut off the gas if the flame was out, rather than temperature regulation

That was the stuff of science fiction when this fridge was made 😂

This seems to be more like a domestic gas hob, the dial determines the strength of the gas flow, though Martins suggestion that the thermocouple can control it has me thinking…

If it’s any consolation mine is struggling on gas at outside temp of 26C in southern Spain but works fine on electric which restricts me a little staying off grid. I need my beer chilled!
A good clean out is required on my return home.

Info to hand suggests the work better on gas so I obviously have an issue

That quite true, if the flame goes out the gas turns off, with the exception of the purge button no flame no gas, the the tempt regulation is ( 1to8) is the same as the hob more gas more heat = fridge colder, you should see a difference in the flame strength, if not it maybe the thermocouple isn't opening the valve enough or the valve is full of crud.
As @baguette said the newer fridge freezer with the auto select and the dreaded circuit board, this measures the tempt electronically and run the gas for a set time, turns off, checks the tempt and continues to do so until it gets to the tempt number selected and keep it there, that's why with no EHU you may hear the gas fireing up every so often.

I had this issue a few years ago. It turned out a dealer who will remain nameless fitted the wrong size jet during a service.
Once the correct jet was fitted the fridge and freezer section have no problem performing as required even in times when the ambient temperature is over 30°c
Interestingly, the lower the jet size number the bigger the flame size it delivers.

Running on 240v at setting 8 on the dial the fridge was proper cold this morning, -4 according to a thermometer I left on the rack.
The fins at the back at -6 though I noticed on the right hand side they were 4 (there’s a left hand section and a right hand section I think). I’ve ordered some thermal paste and will take them out and gunge both of them up with new paste.
So the workings of fridge seem ok, don’t think I need to take it out and leave upside down overnight.
Next move I think is to take the jet out and blast some compressed air through it to make sure it’s cleaned out.

Don't go near the jet with anything like that, if it's the bowler hat type you'll distroy it identify the jet number for your fridge and buy a new one.

Probably the only manual I don’t have is one for the fridge 😂

Charles camping sell jets, maybe they know the number of a jet for the Electrolux RM2291

Unfortunately discontinued,
Electrolux part number 290254005 Jet type F. Might be worth a look on Ebay or Amazon to see if anyone has any old stock left?
I came across this, but since it appears to be solid brass jet, you could run a cleaner trough it.
