Booking Stena with Dog

We booked Stena, Rosslare to Cherbourg a few weeks back. We did not add dog in vehicle at the time, I'm not sure why. But we figured it is easy to amend and Stena allow dogs in vehicle for no charge. How could that sell out, right? Wrong. We just amended the booking, adding dog in vehicle on outward journey. There was no option on the return journey for dog in vehicle. Apparently, this is not an option on the 'Stena Vision'. I did not know that. Pet cabins were sold out, leaving only the kennel option which we did not want to do. We went about changing the sailing to the day before on the Stena Horizon, which does allow dogs in vehicle, but guess what? That option was 'SOLD OUT'.

In the end, we spoke to someone on the help line. He said he had never seen that option sold out. But, we could take a kennel or upgrade to a pet cabin for €34. Obviously we jumped at the cabin. Sweet!

Sounds stupid, but on the Vision all vehicles are on closed decks with no access during the voyage, but on the Horizon, don't they put the vans with pets on the open deck for welfare access and there may just have been no room.
Could this be the answer.?

Stena have taken the Vision off this route.
It was thought that it was only for the winter months, but friends who had booked on it for next summer with dog friendly cabin, had their booking cancelled & had to rebook on the Horizon. So it's gone for the foreseeable future.

I’m on the Vision now returning home. The Horizon on the outward journey had pets on lower deck, not the open deck @sprinter
