Last year I had 3 engineers from Limerick Council visit the campsite (I used to own) as they were designing a motorhome Aire. I gave them a few other places to go and look at and some other suggestions.

A few weeks ago they called me again to say the company they have used to draw the plans are stating they need a clear 6m between vans. I pointed out this is only a legal requirement for campsites in England, Wales and Northern Ireland none of which are applicable to a motorhome Aire in ROI. They reckon to now be able to provide 20 designated spaces for overnight parking, a service point (no ehu). On the Greenway at Ardagh. They hope it will done by summer 2025.

That 6mtr distance doesn't seem to apply for caravan parks here either, if it is Bundoran has obviously never been inspected.

The 6m rule does NOT Apply in ROI.

So what is the minimum distance here in the ROI, does anyone know?
Or is there one and where is it specified?

Baguette will no doubt post on this subject. I believe he was involved in the Cobh Aire development.
Until he confirms it, I seem to recall him stating that the separation of 1.5 metres was approved by the fire service. This based on the separation of HGVs in designated parking lots which could be carrying hazardous and flammable cargos.

Attached is a link to the N. Ireland Caravan act 2011. This is overdue an amendment but has been stalled due to the inefficient Stormont legislature. If you read it it is obviously designed for commercial sites and those comprising static in particular.

It is to be hoped that if it is ever reviewed, Motorhome groups will have an input to reflect the needs of our hobby.

That would depend on what the owners name is, Dick, Joe or Jamie 🤔😇
