Anyone have any recommendations where you can swim in the sea without having to walk out for miles or have to wait for the next Six hours for it to come back in and still have it only up to your Knees. with facilities or not, anywhere around the coast between say Saint Malo and La Rochelle. also maybe from, say Granville round to Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. or possibly rivers ,lakes.

She wants the Beach and swim at will.

There's a beautiful beach at Le Rocher Plage, its about 1 kilometre from the centre of Longeville sur Mer village. Longeville is about 30 or 35 miles north of La Rochelle, there's a supermarket in the village, along with the usual bakeries, restaurants, pharmacy etc. There are some campsites and Aires close to the beach. There can be some big waves at times, but I think it's one of the nicest beaches in the area. Mason Clemenceau is only a couple of kilometers away, the resort of Les Sables d'Olonne is just up the coast to the the North, and La Trance sur Mer a few kilometers to the south.

We stayed at St Jacque last week, plenty of campsites near the beach and not too far to walk in at low tide.
At high tide it's probably only 30m to swiming depth, at low tide it might be 100m

Departed Roeselare yesterday early (1900.) because of wind, dangerous out on deck ,apart from that crossing was no problem, the ports on both sides are a mess at the moment (improvement) , called in to WBS for supplies, and drop off some of Susie's Banana Muffin's for the gang.
Parked up in a free field in Dinan, below the Bridge, probably 60 vans, with room for more, (see one Irish so far ), interesting time getting here, for the last 500 mtrs, thanks to Mr Googley, driving between the restaurants along the quays, dodging the waiter's with trays of drink and food, escorted by a very friendly couple of lads,

Misty rain this morning but nice day otherwise, rain again this evening, just in time for dinner, ( Airfryer worked great off the inverter) couldn't even think of eating down buy the quey, the waft of sewage, was enough to put "one "off the moules marinières,
72 vans in the field tonight + 6 out in the Aire ( don't ever think of parking in the 4 spaces close to the bridge,in the Aire, it's a drop zone.)

There's one in Cherbourg very near the Aire at the Port Rob, we use one in a town called Pontorson 10 km from Mt St Michael, they speak English and are very easy to make an appointment with , area has campsites and Aires and is 2 hrs from Cherbourg

Not less than 24 hrs and not more than 120 hrs, keep it close to the 24 hour's in case your ferry is delayed

Have you acquired a dog whilst traveling or did you take a dog with you and are now bringing it back?

If you took your dog abroad from Ireland it should have had its rabies jabs.

If you’re are setting off in 14 days from Ireland and your dog doesn’t have the rabies vaccination then you have left it too late and will Not be able to travel with it.

If you’re away and have found a new dog the rules require more than 14 days.

But bringing a stray or found dog is much harder if it wasn’t already microchipped and vaccinated against rabies.

This link may clarify some things?

Ffs, I rang the vet about 3 weeks ago and enquired about getting the pet passport. They told me to contact just before I travel to arrange it. You'd think they'd know this sh#t. Although I should have been aware.
Going to be interesting now to see how brittany ferries help me out.

I don't think you'll be able to take the dog Rob , it's government rules, nothing the ferry Co can do , dog would possibly end up with 6 months quarantine on return, ferry Co. pay more attention to pet passport than human one

A bit of a worry.

We moved From St-Paul-De-Leon to Concarneau Sunday, yesterday it was
24° lovely, went down to the beach for a swim, a guy from the harbour came down told everyone not to swim,( this was just as we drying off after being in the water,) when the tide started to drop, he pointed out, the shore line was littered with dead, full size Eel's, some up to 1.5mtr, 😡 we walked down to the Old Town, for a wander around, and there was some lying at the height tide line, I hope the whole coast isn't effected.

got the dates deferred until next year, 40 euro charge, so im happy enough.
Two weeks around Ireland and chill out while hoping for decent weather. The only worry is we are down to our last few bottles of wine, so tensions might run high

We stopped off for the last couple of days in Saint-Vaast-La-Haugue nice little harbor village, 40 min from Cherbourg, good stopover for the last night before the Boat home. Restaurants, shops, walking , swimming, etc. we will do it again, but just never in Camping La Gallouette, first on the price, Quoted in the ACSI book 996 (2023) for €23 but than on booking you have another €7 for second person, but then €7 more for EHU which is compulsory, then a chicken coop, it had more Rats in it then Hens and of course Surprise Surprise, the problem is everyone else's including the patrons who feed the Hens.

There are 3 other places to stay starting with a park-up at the Carrefour drive 49.589674, -1.280219. ( 20min walk to harbor )
An Aire beside the Campsite 49.584074, -1.267049. ( 5 min walk )
A free park-up at the La Hougeue beside the swimming place toilet and changing room 49.577959 -1.271858 (15 min walk to the Harbor.)

La Gallouette is €25 this year. I would write an appropriate review and do a complaint email to ACSI.
The €25 is supposed to include 2 people and EHU.

I've stayed there before a few times and they stuck to the rules, pitches are tight and there can be a long run to ehu point, no chicken's though 😁

Just home today, we visited the vet in Pontorson as usual The vet we had was Belgian , he spoke perfect English as did the receptionist. We were there for approx 5 mins from entering the premises to leaving. All done very quickly , the only thing he did was pop the tablet down our dogs throat, there was no health check , he didn't even weigh the dog. I was over 58 euros poorer when I left. 🤔
