At the risk of being embarrassed I decided to post this just in case it happened to someone else,I was originally booked in and PREPAID untill 28 of Jan but I got a message fro the site that work was being done around the pitch I was on and had to move,i looked at the availability around the site but didn't like any of them,as i was told when booking in i could stay there I decided to move on,when i went to check out and collect my refund imagine my surprise and anger when I was refunded only 22 euro instead of the 276 I was expecting, the reason I was given is that there are different rates for longer stays but to me not going from 23 to 35 a night, but despite all my protestsi was told i had signed the tems and conditions,to say i was not impressed is an understatement,
Anyway I left with a huge blow out an stormed off

2things learned,
1 book as long as you like but don't pay for anymore than a week
2 if they have your money they won't give it back
Anyway for info guys. Needless to say I won't be going back .

That’s really poor customer service. I would suggest reviews on camper contact, park4night searchforsites and maybe Google. Don’t make it personal but stick to the facts. Perhaps write your intended review and explain to the campsite what you are posting and why and if they have any comments.

Trouble is at this time of year there are more campers than decent camping spaces so the campsites don’t always care.

Raco, while quite nice and is in a good location, mostly consists of permanent caravan/awning set ups. They have taken the vast majority of the pitches which actually get the sunshine. Very few of the pitches that remain get much if any sun which is a problem for most of us who have solar, but especially in winter.

I had an issue with a campsite a little further north last Autumn. I had booked a pitch on line and paid upfront for 7 nights on the basis that I would get a south-facing pitch (in order to get satellite signal and some sunshine - and I put this specific request in the comments section when booking, asking them to get back to me immediately if my special request could not be met. I then received a booking confirmation - so assumed all would be in order.

When we arrived I was told we were getting the last pitch (They were full). When we got to the pitch, it was facing North, almost covered in by trees and had a tree growing in the centre of the pitch !. Back I went to reception to complain to be told they would swop me with one other pitch where the customer had not arrived yet. But, it was also north facing. I refused to take it and they wanted to refund me only for 6 nights as I was refusing to accept the pitch on offer. A row ensued, manager called and eventually they agreed for a refund for 7 nights.

Regarding Raco, I wouldn't give up yet. If you entered a contract on the basis of being promised a specific pitch and which the campsite then reneged on, and you didn't like any of the others then on offer, you are entitled to a full refund for whatever nights you have not used. Email the campsite manager, outline what happened and request the full refund that you are entitled to. Don't threaten you will give them bad reviews. Just express your total dissatisfaction regarding how you had been treated at reception for now.
