Bypass Goaway you're not wanted in that county. Go elsewhere is the best advice I can give you, sorry it's not what you wanted to hear but why spend your hard earned cash where you're not welcome ?

ye dont think Galway city is campervan friendly, might ask Paul Brady to do the Wexford opera house instead of leisureland!

we will find a spot

Along the sea road between the aquarium and South Park is all fair game. It's non-residential and you wouldn't be the first van to park there.

any tips?

Parked on the prom Friday night, opposite the aquarium no bother, no visible signage, or double yellows.

However, A decent passerby early next morning, told us the council are taking photos of overnight campers and sending a fine in the post, we moved on before 8am

we will see what happens.

If there are no visible signage, or double yellows, what will the fine you for,? or is the good citizen one of the complainers who has found another way of putting the doubt on people, in order to frighten them off from parking there, ?

Galway City Council have a comprehensive list of streets and other places in their anti motorhome byelaws where motorhomes are not allowed to park.
However, I'm not sure if they all have prohibition signs.
Another point is that there are no legally acceptable signs which specifically relate to motorhomes, as a distinct category of vehicle, in parking signs section of the official government Traffic Signs Manual

That would surly mean that a visitor, would first have to find access to the bylaws on the council website in order to not break the law. ? :-/
I'd love to see what a Barrister would do with that in court with a EU tourist beside him. :-) O-)

Anything that is not in the manual is not a regulatory sign, simple as. The signs on the prom in Salthill are nothing more than unwelcoming street art.

Quote
Section 5.1.3

The following sections of this Chapter deal with the various types of regulatory sign and describe where they should be used. Detailed designs for the signs are provided on the Department of Transport’s websites www.gov.ie/transport and www.trafficsigns.ie. These signs are the only regulatory signs which shall be used. No other sizes, colours, symbols or text shall be used.

Section 5.1.2 says that Shall or must indicates that a particular requirement is mandatory.

I've successfully appealed a Parking Ticket on the basis of a missing regulatory sign, car not motorhome. The sign had been there in the past based on google street view but was not there on the day.

Download this file https://assets.gov.ie/21645/e3…411e33.PDF

Read section 5.1.3
Then scroll to section 5.17
Nothing to see which depicts or mentions 'Motor Caravans'

Having regard to Section 5.1.3, which specifically mentions, in a heavy black font, No other sizes, colours, symbols or texts shall be used, any signs referring to motor caravans either by symbol or text is contrary to Section 5.1.3

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to print off the relevant sections and keep them handy to stick under the nose of a jobsworth causing hassle

Yes its possible your man was sh*t stirring, if i get a fine i'd happilly contest it at any cost, im guessing the Salthill caravan and camping park, are in favour of "the ban"
