So, first impressions of the new ferry (SantoƱa) is that itā€™s a big upgrade over the older ship.
Firstly, the absence & level of noise & vibration is very apparent. Virtually gone is the resonance and shaft noise you get on heavy oil powered boatsā€¦. and me being sort of interested in this sort of crap had to find out what theyā€™d done to achieve this. Turns out that this ferry is powered by LNG (liquidified natural gas) and produces a much smoother power train. Heavy oil engines (and older diesels) known as CI types have a very pronounced power stroke due to high compression ratios and the LNG is only a fraction of this.
This makes the experience much much better, less noise less vibration.
Also it rolls much less than the other ship and is more stable.
Tried to blag a visit ā€˜downstairsā€™ to the power plant but they were having none of it !

Restaurants/bars/club lounge still offer the same type of fare although access to the club lounge is now ā‚¬96 per person. Was only ā‚¬42 last year !ā€¦.. so Something we didnā€™t avail of as ā‚¬96 will now be added to the ā€œwine fundā€ for later on !

Cabins more or less the same, clean & tidy with a good access to the dog area.

I hope they cleaned up the pee outside room 750 it was quite bad on Sundays crossing.
I couldnā€™t justify the price of the lounge either.

Im in 768, the room and the corridors are spotless Jamie. Some pet ownes should be shot, can't blame the poor animals.
Really impressed so far with this new ship. Concur, couldn't justify the cost of the club lounge although its excellent.

Yes I was amazed. If Bertie had decided to pee where he shouldnā€™t I would have gone to reception and got a mop. Luckily he did not.
That said on the ferry back from Greece to Italy I saw dog poo left without any attempt to clean up twice. Lazy dirty barstools

Hi Jon, Have a great trip, safe traveling, would you have been at the M11 roundabout ( Oylgate ) yesterday about 16.30. I was entering the Motorway roundabout going North, and thought I recognized your Van.

A few in it Dave. I enjoy the club lounge and at 40 odd euro itā€™s worth itā€¦ā€¦ but dammed if Iā€™m going to give them ā‚¬96 for the privilege, thatā€™s a nice few bottles when back home.
