Rock and Roll Assistance

Hi Team, I'm looking for advice on possibly fitting a gas assist strut to help in closing my Vauxhall Vivaro rock and roll bed.
I'm finding it hard enough during the initial stage of the lift. Once it's started it's easy enough to close, but that first pull is almost impossible.
There's a pull strap in the middle of the bed but it's difficult to get a 'vertical' pull on it without kneeling on the bed, which in turn adds weight and restricts the slide.
Any tips or advice appreciated.
PS This will be my number one project when the van gets back from the garage. It's been off the road for over TWO MONTHS, defeating several garages, each unable to find the intermittent fault that would cut the engine and prevent restarting. Finally diagnosed...a faulty Traction Control Unit. Weird, I know. New one on the way from Germany.

Hi Tony, I got struts from a farm macherinery factors, they had various lengths and strengths, that are used on bonnets and hatches, on farm machinery, if there is a garage or guy's around you, that repair farm machinery, some fitter might be able to give you a suggestion as to how to fit them. 🤔

Hi Martin, there's a farm machinery outlet just outside town... Evans Engineering. I bought struts there before for the van's pop-top. I'll call up when my van finally comes home. Maybe someone up there could advise.
In the meant I'm hoping someone on the MHC has fitted them to their R and R bed and could advise.
Regards from Sunny Skibbereen as always!
