If you're going through Bilbao diesel was €1.54.9 / L here last Thursday afternoon. If you're looking for an Aires reasonably close to the port Liérganes is about an hour down the A8. Quiet aires beside the train station, end of the line from Santander, €5.70 return. Trains don't run during the night. Good to dump grey and black waste but I wouldn't take on water there as I've seen too many toilet cassettes shoved up on to both taps. Bon Voyage.

Liérganes is handy for Santander as well, or Cabárceno but there are no longer services at Cabárceno. Happy travels.

Heading to La Manga for two months. Going via Madrid and will probably spend a couple of days at Area de Pinto and fill up at E.leclerc, currently €1.619/L

Have no idea Tommy, all dependant on weather …… a southerly route I’d think. Somewhere between Malaga and Valencia.

Have you booked any sites or are you just going to show up and hope for the best

That’s a good question as everything I’m seeing seems to indicate Spain is already very busy. My previous experience was that prior to the new year it was busy but from January onwards even busier. Especially on the eastern coast down towards Malaga.

The acsi book will help. Seriously though from my experience in January this year the sites were either full or very busy. Arrive at check out time or before if you don’t pre book.

Hoping to head east Tommy, then down the coast and then head south. Hopefully get some nice towns to stay in. I was originaly looking at san sebastian as a stopover, but looking at the reviews its now a no. Lots of reported campers and cars broken in during the day.

Same as Colin. Vodafone red has worked for me through last winter in Spain and Portugal and this year through France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Greece so far and in every country I’ve streamed now tv without issue.

I know there are lots of PAYG deals out there, and combining a local (home) PAYG deal with an away PAYG deal, which may have a data cap, is an option, but the combined cost of the two can add up as much as the Vodafone Red Unlimited deal which does exactly what it says on the tin.

I’ve moved over to the Vodafone deal too Colin, it’s a great option and the data cap removed when roaming makes it a no brainer.

I’ll run a cheap local sim along side too in a MiFi unit, the data cap can be quite low on it as it will predominantly be used for streaming a webcam when we leave the dog alone in the van.

I like your idea of the web cam. We don't have a dog but it would be a good way to monitor the mh when left unoccupied.

@ROBANDSUE I arrived in Santander last Wednesday and I'm in Valencia now.
I bought a Bip n Go toll tag before I left and use Sygic Truck satnav. I bought a Lobster SIM today 80gBit for 12.50 a month. My 9.99 Gomo gave me everything I needed until now I wil use the Lobster for streaming TV on the fire stick. Sygic allows you to input the weight and dimensions of your van and should keep you out of tight spots. Good luck on your journey.

mirroring my trip details when we went to italy earlier this year.
After advice from Ally, i uploaded sygic, on advice from martin, Sprinter, i got bip and go, and i am on gomo.
Looks like its a toss up between lobster and vodafone red.
Thanks for the advice.
