Dolmen Second Vehicle

I insured my Vivaro last May through Dolmen, on the basis that it was not my primary vehicle. I had a 'regular' car at the time, so no problem.
However, that car had to be sold soon after to finance the Vivaro 🙄
Since then the Vivaro has been off the road due to an intermittent electrical fault (the worst kind) and I had to purchase a temporary cheapo car to stay mobile.
Obviously I've had to insure it, the plan is to sell the cheapo when the Vivaro is sorted, cancel the insurance and get a part refund.
But thinking ahead... would I be better off 'forgetting' to cancel the insurance until after the Vivaro renewal date so that the Vivaro still my second vehicle?
Has anyone managed to insure their camper as a sole vehicle through Dolmen? I'd obviously much prefer that option if it's available.

A few years ago a friend of mine had his campervan insured with Dolmen as his sole vehicle, the cost was something in the region of €650 iirc

That's encouraging, certainly an easier option than the current plan.

Just renewed it was €702 sole vehicle. I did get nearly 20% off to take it down to €702. As I have an alarm, reversing camera and a centrally monitored tracker.

I just rang them, person to person, and got a quote of 330 ,is there a massive difference in rates north and south

Was the 330 for the camper as a sole vehicle because Dolmen charge me well over double that as the sole vehicle.

I'd say the quote you got is on the assumption you have a car also,£330 is too cheap, should be around 6/700 mark
