‘Most’ people accept the internet as a tool to be exploited and do not realise that they are in fact the ‘item’ that is being exploited in the equation, meta being one of the worst offenders.
They in fact cannot, and indeed don’t want to be warned nor educated about the damage that is being done. I don’t think they’ll even know they’ve been manipulated and are being controlled when it happens. AI will speed this up even greater in the future.
“I tried to warn you, but you would not listen” is an apt saying attributed to a famous speech once made by a controversial person, also appropriate in this case.
