Hi folks...i had to change my licence from uk to ROI (I now live in DOnegal) in 2021 due to the threat of having to change it over or face a reteat (I think this never actually came to be)...I havd the 7 tonne allowance on UK licence but didnt get it on the Irish licence. The NDLS say I can get the 7 tonne allocation back on my licence with medical report and fee...my question is: does this 7 tonne allowance need reviewed every year with visit and fee to GP??..my mechanic told me \i did...but Im not sure and didnt see reference on NDLS website. Thanks

The licence should last for 5 years and then re apply with the relevant med certs and eye test, this changes after your 70 yrs to I think 3 years

If you have a UK licence with the C1 category you should also have D1. If you have make sure you transfer that to the Irish licence too.
My brother passed his car test in the UK in the old days and when the new categories came in he got C1 and D1. He now has a very handy part-time job driving a minibus

The C and D category licences are for five years and a medical and eyesight report are required at renewal.

If you have trailer towing on your UK licence make sure you apply for the E attachment also,it's very important to check when you make application, that everything is as you want ,and also check again when you receive your licence back.
They eye to fingers coordination is exceptionally poor.
They SCREWED me over my C1 +E (Trailer) it was passed the renewal time. because they couldn't be bothered working and they gave an extension over Covid .
