I've noticed that for a good few years, they are often soon after the town/village name sign.
Remember, the 50km/h starts and finishes as you enter and leave the town, there are no 50km/h signs like we are accustomed to here.
It's the town name sign that indicates the start of the 50km/h zone and it's the town name sign with the diagonal red bar which indicates the end of the 50km/h zone.

Those type of lights have been in Spain for years. I've encountered them a lot driving around northern Spain, especially in small villages out in the sticks.

It took me a while to cop why all the old codgers were sitting AAT the traffic lights glaring at us stopped at the red light's.
So far every village we've been through has had a 50km at the start and then further on a 30km area ,also with a narrow section where you have to give right of way.
We've had two Gendarmerie stop's for licence ,logbook and CartGris (CVRT).
rained most of today.

Do you have to produce the originals or are they happy with copies. Did they check for breathelyser, hi vis vests, warning triangles ?

I don't know, but that's all the asked for. I only carry the originals, I wouldn't want to get into the argument with the
Gendarmerie, it would be bad enough at home, dealing with one that was lured out of the mountains, with a lump of raw meat..
