FIAT Camper Assist Catch 22

Has anyone any experience of FIAT Camper Assists extended warranty ?

I purchased a new van on the 18th the extended warranty needs to be purchased within 14 days of registration however the registration process has not yet been completed by the DVLA.

Donnelly Group cannot process the paperwork until I have the V5. When I eventually receive the V5 the date of registration may well be more than 14 days prior therefore no warranty.

Another thing to watch.
Many moons ago when I bought mine new I discovered the warranty had been running since the base vehicle had been delivered to the second stage builder, which was over six months earlier. My local FIAT main dealer was able to restart the warranty clock from the date of first registration.

Do you actually need the V5, the selling garage should have all the details of the vehicle, Reg no., VIN No., Engine no., etc., etc. All of which, except the Registration No., are to be found on the CoC (Certificate of Conformity). If furnishing copy of the V5 is part of the process cannot it be marked 'to follow'. At least the process of applying for the extended warranty would be started.

I think you are correct about not needing a v5, as when I purchased my van from Thompsons they mot'd it on the vin number until I got the v5 I ran on there temporary plates for about a month before I got the number plates fitted.

Is the registration date not the date on which the process has been completed by the DVLA.?

To answer some of the replies;
I will not know the registration date until I receive the V5 which may be outside the 14 day window.
Fiat (donnellygroup) will not proceed without the V5 despite me being able to tell them the VIN and registration numbers.
CoC has been sent to the DVLA as part of the registration process.

It always amazes me how fast a dealer can run for the hills once a customers money is in their bank.

Tell them you want a refund if the warranty isn't honoured 😁

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work like that, the FIAT warranty is for the non habitation area and that warranty is in force. It's the extended warranty that is a FIAT option. Anyways it is amazing how little knowledge dealers have regarding the non habition part of the M/H. I can imagine many buyers have little knowledge of the extended warranty prior to reading the warranty manual and miss the 14 day deadline.
