Now mandatory to have 3rd party insurance cover for your dog, applies to visitors as well as residents.
I’ll post up more when I get it.
I’ve no idea where it can be purchased.

For now this site details the requirements but it’s not available in English yet.

When we moved from open country to an Urban location I took out 3rd party only insurance for our dog. It is a U.K. firm called many pets and costs me £14 per year. I don’t see it mentioned on their website, but a call might help, anyhow £14 approx seems to be a guide price for research.

When I posted this info on another forum it was suggested that some household policies cover your dogs, but have not checked mine.

It was also stated that the dogs trust give free 3rd party cover, but I am given to understand that it depends on having a membership.

Whether any of this covers travel to Spain is an unknown but perhaps a starting point in research.

I guess I’m saying is who will bother unless it is much better publicised and enforced and if it ever comes to that you be able to buy it for a tenner online.

Bet the terrier will have a NI number plate

Shocking to see the difference, and also the care would probably be better in NI should the need arise

I certainly won’t be paying the extortionate premium for cover in the ROI, really shows the rip off culture the people of Ireland are subjected to.

Shocking difference, & yes…. The cover in Northern Ireland has a lower excess on the policy and offers better vet cover.
