Hi, anyone used the Millau aire as a stopover ? I mean the one at the top, just off the autoroute, never been over the bridge and want to use it on the way to Palavas, hope to be able to take in the views, which are spectacular I believe. Is it worth stopping at or better to stop at the village below ? Cheers.

I stopped at the aire briefly for a snack. Never stopped over as we were always en route before we had the Moho. The bridge is spectacular & worth seeing & driving over. Great feat of engineering.
You will see a better perspective from below, but it will ad a couple of hours to your journey time.
If you are stopping overnight anyway, it won't matter.
There a 3 Aires down below. I looked them up & they all look pretty good.
Enjoy.

We love Millau the old road on the souther side offers super views ,if you have time its worth a few days on it own the route along the Tarn to the Gorges du Tarn is a spectacular drive or ride with many walking and Cycling routes in the area , you can take a canoe up the river under the bridge gives you a real feel of how high it actually is .... lots of camping and aires in the area also .

Thanks, guys. We'll seewhat time we have and perhaps stay at one of the aires below, I've always wanted to see it and I'm sure it's more spectacular looking up. As usual, the 4 weeks is going to fly in without seeing everything we want....

A few years ago we booked into a campsite in millau village for a night and ended up staying three days there ,as the scenery and atmosphere and craic was fantastic .we never crossed over the bridge and have been regretting it ever since as its an experience in itself.

TBH crossing over the bridge is a bit of a non event you don't get to see a hole lot plus as its so hi up there can often be mist or fog about .... but if your blowing up or down the A75 its a god send saving up to an hour, while the A75 is free there is a €10 toll on the viaduct a little less out of season ... one of the tolls worth paying if you need to eat road ! https://about-france.com/millau-viaduct.htm

Staying in Millau is better than going over the bridge, you can't appreciate it from above and the town is a great place to stop, plenty of things to do
